  1. Thanks, Dennis. I've been tempted to try this for quite some time. I guess it's time to give it a whirl.
  2. Hey, Dennis . . . with Returnil's Protection "on," is there any way to bypass the protection and selectively "save" something (if I wanted to?)
  3. Can you activate/deactivate Returnil at will. For instance, what if you have an app you want to install "for real" -- not just to test?
  4. What is the fastest (and most thorough) online AntiVirus scanner?
  5. Dennis, do both of these programs do about the same thing? If so, which do you prefer?
  6. Does/can a memory defragger actually free memory -- or does it literally just defragment it?
  7. Oops. May have spoken too soon. Have been online using FF2 for a while -- now at 100MB
  8. I'm using FF2 right now -- about 54MB.

    File Deletion

In another thread, Andavari mentioned that he had securely deleted some files using Recuva -- so there must be a way. Maybe he'll respond.
  10. Just downloaded and tried to install Avira Anti-Rootkit Tool. However, couldn't get the Setup.exe file to open. Anyone else have that problem? Or, is there possibly another way to install it?
  11. I've never used this so I feel a little ignorant. By "using the disk cache method" do you mean by setting up a "virtual disk partition" at setup? By the way, if I were to give this a try, I assume there's no problem uninstalling it -- RIGHT???
  12. How do you install and set it up for the memory option?
  13. So, how do you bypass Returnil with "legitmate" system changes?
  14. Sounds interesting -- I'll give it a try. By the way, is this a memory resident program or can you just use it when you need it?
  15. Is there any little utility that can be used to free up RAM on demand? I know that Windows is supposed to manage it, but on occasion, it would be nice to be able to manually free up/clean up a little of what's not currently in use.
  16. How do you think VLC compares with Media Player Classic?
  17. Is Revo Uninstaller one of those installer/uninstaller monitoring programs? Actually, I've used Revo for quite some time -- just not sure whether or not it has a monitoring function. As I recall, ZSoft Uninstaller does.
  18. Yep!! I jumped on it when it was first released.
  19. What does PerfectDisk (commercial) do that JKDefrag (free) doesn't do (if anything)?
  20. This little utility has worked well for me. I've probably been using it for close to a year now.
  21. I've been using JKDefrag for quite some time. Since the start of this thread, I've been doing a little research on PerfectDisk 2008 -- and it sounds very interesting. For those of you who use it, do you think it's really all that superior (even though it is a commercial product)?
  22. Thanks for the suggestions.
  23. Anyone know of a good pdf to MS Word document converter?
  24. Have used JKDefrag for quite some time -- still one of the best IMO. Easy to use, relatively fast -- and I like what it does with "space-hog" files.
