As I use this as a business tool, and I didn't like some of the inappropriate and "scantily clad" images. It didn't exactly send the type of message I wanted to send to my clients.

Here we go again . . . Sorry to resurrect this subject, but I'm still looking for a good file sharing/hosting site -- one without all of the pop-ups and borderline questionable photos and images. Bottom line is that I need a very "Professional" service -- both in appearance and function. I share files all the time in my business and don't need all the junk that comes with so many of them. I've tried a lot of services, but still haven't found one I'm happy with. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Actually, I've only used Mitsui CD-Rs -- don't know if they make DVDs -- but possibly they do. Regarding DVDs, I don't think Verbatims are too bad. Have had pretty good luck with them and know several other studios that use them.
-
That's too bad. Maybe I've just been fortunate, but I've had pretty good luck with them. One older model I still use quite a bit is a PX-716UF. It has performed exceedingly well for me. However, I don't use many of the most common CDs (Sony, TDK, Memorex, Maxell, etc.). Rather, I lean heavily on Taiyo Yuden and Mitsui (not always found at Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.) -- never have had a recognition problem with either of these brands.

I really like the Plextor external drives. They seem to be very accurate and very reliable -- a cut above many of the others (although I'm sure there are other good drives). I do professional audio work and use Plextors quite a bit -- they just seem to hold up very well.

For those of you who use Firefox and have it store your logins and passwords, have you ever had a situation where that information has been compromised, or is it relatively secure? Also, how important is it to use the "Master Password" feature in conjunction with that?

A followup question, JD . . . per your suggestion, I uninstalled Updates 2 and 3 and discovered that "Java SE Development Kit 6 - Update 4" was also installed -- almost 290MBs worth. Just what is that and do I need it -- or can that also be uninstalled?
-
Just updated to Java 6 Update 4. Noticed that I still have Java 6 Updates 2 and 3 installed. Can they (2 and 3) now be uninstalled?

Thanks, Dennis. I've read and still have the article -- it was very helpful. I guess I was looking for a comprehensive definition of the term "re-authoring." From the article, it appears that re-authoring is limited to "shrinking." Is that it -- or can there be other things involved with the re-authoring process as well?
-
Here comes another dumb question . . . just exactly, what is re-authoring?
-
That's correct. However, I was told by the developer that the yet-to-be released Home Edition would include that feature. But as you mentioned, Burrrn is also a great little app for that.

Do ImgBurn and DVD Decrypter essentially do the same thing?
-
Is there a freeware version of AnyDVD? By the way, is this a ripper or decrypter -- or both?
-
Anyone have any experience with Ashampoo's "Movie Shrink & Burn 3" (not freeware)? However, now available for $24.99)
-
OK . . . so I'm not a video guy -- which I'm sure is obvious . Can you help me understand the basic functions of each of the following applications. At this point, I'm particularly interested in (DVD) movies: DVDShrink DVD Decrypter DVDFab HD Decrypter ImgBurn Also, will a program like Ashampoo's Burning Studio burn movies/video?
-
If I'm not mistaken, DVDShrink doesn't burn. So, what do you use for a burner?
-
Thanks, JD, I missed that. For some reason, I didn't use the link from Dennis -- rather, I just went to their site.
-
Thanks to all. I checked out these suggestions and have pretty much decided on Faststone Capture -- although it's not a freebie (shareware). It's very straight-forward and clean -- and easy on resources. I've only used it for a day or two, but it seems to do everything that I need (and more).
-
This is a great little straight forward, intuitive and easy-to-use app with a very clean user interface. Only problem is that it doesn't allow for gapless (dao) CDs. However, I was informed by the developer that a forthcoming edition (Home Edition) would include this feature.
-
What's a good, simple and lightweight program for screen captures -- preferably a free one?
-
Is DVDFab Express a free or commercial product -- and, is it still available?
-
Which file sharing/hosting sites are the best (free, reasonably fast uploads and easy to use) for sharing large files (100MB-2GB)? And, which are the worst (complicated, slow, congested and unreliable)?
-
Thanks for the clarification, Andavari.

Does DVDFab burn as well, or just rip?
