Moderators Nergal Posted June 1, 2012 Moderators Share Posted June 1, 2012 Don't know what length of time you mean but the following is what is cleaned by ccleaner for VLC [VLC Media Player] ID=2164 LangSecRef=3023 DetectFile=%ProgramFiles%\videolan\vlc\vlc.exe Default=True FileKey1=%appdata%\vlc\art\artistalbum\|*.*|REMOVESELF FileKey2=%appdata%\vlc\art\arturl\|*.*|REMOVESELF do you feel there ought to be more cleaned? ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. Moderators Augeas Posted June 1, 2012 Moderators Share Posted June 1, 2012 In my case (XP, VLC 1.1.6 - yes, I know it's old) C:\Documents and Settings\Me\Application Data\vlc\vlc-qt-interface.ini holds the Recent Media list, and can be added to the Include section of CC with no problems. Moderators Nergal Posted June 1, 2012 Moderators Share Posted June 1, 2012 does the ini hold anything else besides RML? Moderators Augeas Posted June 1, 2012 Moderators Share Posted June 1, 2012 It holds the last 'what folder I looked in to open' address (but rebuilds that when recreating the folder) and size and some other options. I don't delete this with CC, I just found it when I read this thread.
DeltaLima
Forgot to say I use the standalone (no installer) version. That may explain why. I tried a search in the registry but nothing, unless it's encoded? Sorry can't find where it's keeping the information.
Alan_B
I do not understand "standalone" I can advise that Portable versions of VLC are "no installers" and Portable anything is by definition NOT allowed to use the registry.
Moderators Augeas Posted June 8, 2012 Moderators Share Posted June 8, 2012 You could try scanning your c drive for a file containing a name from the recent media list, or you could disable the recent media list by following this http://wiki.videolan.org/VSG:Usage:DisableRecentMedia
Moderators Andavari Posted June 8, 2012 Moderators Share Posted June 8, 2012 If it's the PortableApps.com version you'd need to find where it stores settings where you extracted VLC, and can then put the settings file(s) in CCleaner's Include area. Should be located somewhere like this: C:\VLCPortable\Data\settings\
