Tom0895
Hi all, new member here, so if this has been discussed just point me to the thread:) Running Windows Vista and IE8. Have one history item that - no matter what I've done - shows up in the history drop down in IE. Tried all the IE ways of deleting history/cookies/etc... Downloaded CCleaner today and ran it a few times - "Cleaner" and "Register" - and have done power-off-on reboots after each clean. In "Register" all items are ticked, in "Cleaner" all items are ticked except the shortcuts and all the "Advanced" items. Start IE, and that one entry is still there in history. It's an adult site, and if I click on it, it goes to the site. Just can't figure out how to get rid of it. Any help/direction would be great! Gotta run out for a bit - will check back. Thanks! Icedrake
Have you tried clearing your AutoComplete forms in IE? That seems to be the problem according to a bunch of sites I found if you look up on Google: item won't delete from history

Not sure if you'd want to switch browsers, but with FireFox you can browse privately. No URL's are saved or anything which is good for those of us... ... that visit sites we shouldn't. LOL I'm here. What are your other two wishes?

Moderators Nergal Posted February 1, 2011 Moderators Share Posted February 1, 2011 open C:\Users\{USername}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\History show all hidden files (system files too) and manually delete everything including index.dat ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.
