pwillener
I am trying to install CCleaner v2.29 on a computer that has lost its Internet connection. I know about the "phone home" feature in the new version, but this is preventing me from completing the install! When it comes to 'Checking system and updates..' it just hangs in there; nothing moves. How do I install CCleaner on a system with no Internet connection? Moderators hazelnut Posted March 1, 2010 Moderators Share Posted March 1, 2010 Interesting question! What about safe mode? Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com
pwillener
You think it wouldn't do it in Safe Mode? I circumvented the problem by downloading v2.28 from a 3rd-party site. Still, I think there should be an install option, either to check on the install panel, or run it with something like /nophonehome .
pwillener
An additional point: the idea behind this "phone home" feature was to ensure that people install the latest available version. In my case, and other systems that don't have an Internet connection, this has exactly the opposite effect: I was made to install an older version. Admin MrG Posted March 1, 2010 Admin Share Posted March 1, 2010 It should continue anyway even if there's no internet connection. Can you post your system specs? Piriform.com - [CCleaner - Defraggler - Recuva - Speccy]
Moderators Nergal Posted March 1, 2010 Moderators Share Posted March 1, 2010 Also you could download the Portable version and not have any call home or install ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. pwillener
Can you post your system specs? Speccy says: Operating System MS Windows XP Professional 32-bit SP3 CPU Intel Pentium 4 Northwood 0.13um Technology RAM 1.0GB Dual-Channel DDR @ 159MHz 2.5-3-3-7 Motherboard Dell Computer Corp. 0U1324 (Microprocessor) Graphics Plug-and-Pay Monitor on NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X (Microsoft Corporation) 64MB NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X (Microsoft Corporation) (nVidia) Hard Drives 120GB Western Digital WDC WD1200JB-75CRA0 (IDE) Optical Drives NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A Audio SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio Do you need the detail specs? Unfortunately this forum does not allow upload of Speccy snapshot files as attachments. P.S. funny that Speccy (1.00.108) wouldn't list the network adapter (Intel? PRO/1000 MT Network Connection).
