gunner
Have some pictures I could only get by scanning, and now I am trying to resize them. I have tried several programs, and while all other pics will resize, these will not. The format is jpeg. What am I missing? If it isn't broke, tweak it. jobartley515
What programs have you used so far...? (Just Curious)
Moderators rridgely Posted September 5, 2005 Moderators Share Posted September 5, 2005 It shouldnt make any differance where the pics came from. I use picasa to crop and edit. If you havent already give it a try. It dosent get much easier or better than this program. http://picasa.google.com/index.html

jobartley515
i like using the Picture-Resizing powertoy from M$ <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is that worth downloading because I use alot of Microsofts Powertoys(Best one is TweakUI) but didn't decide to download that one....is it any good? Guest Mangix
if you dont like installing a lot of software then yes all it does is, it integrates itself in the explorer shell and let's you resize any picture by right clicking the picture and selecting Resize. it's really simple to use
gunner
Tried picasa, powertoys, icon sizer ,and freestone screen capture all of which resize. I can size down, but not up. Has something to do with the scanner, but I can"t figure out what. BTW, the white border gets larger, but the image remains the same? If it isn't broke, tweak it. Capman
Sounds like you resized the canvas area or work area or whatever it is called by whatever programs. Try IrfanView I use it for all my image resizing.
gunner
I'll do that, and rescan in case there is a malfunction there. Thanks to all . If it isn't broke, tweak it.
Capman
Once they are scanned and saved as jpg files, then the scanner can't be the problem. Are they personal images, or could you send one to me in a pm, (don't know if this is actually possible), and then I would have a go at resizing one for you. Moderators rridgely Posted September 6, 2005 Moderators Share Posted September 6, 2005 I see what you mean now. What program did your scanner send your pics to?
gunner
Epson perfection (HA) 1260 scanner, and saved to my pictures. It must be in the scanner, and I will do some reading tonight. If it isn't broke, tweak it.
Moderators rridgely Posted September 6, 2005 Moderators Share Posted September 6, 2005 What I have always done is in the settings of my scanner told it to upload my images to a program and I would edit and then save them from within that program. I use picasa now but I used to use Adobe photoshop album starter edition. I think your right about it being someting in the scanner. Good luck. gunner
Much better. What did you do? If it isn't broke, tweak it.
Moderators Andavari Posted September 6, 2005 Moderators Share Posted September 6, 2005 Try IrfanView I use it for all my image resizing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Get's my vote as well since it can do batch conversions like resizing and even outputting to a different image format. Capman
Gunner, by the looks of it Sniper has cropped the image to remove the border and then resized it. BTW, you didn't put the picture in your scanner very straight.
Sniper
Much better. What did you do? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you. Just kidding. Open the pic with "Paint"...yep, the crappy program that comes with Windows. Use the Selection tool to outline just the pic, Right-click on the selected section and hit "Copy to" Name it and save to a folder, Open the saved pic with Paint, Click "Image" > Stretch/Skew, in the stretch area increase the Hor and Vert to whatever % you want and save. Easier than it sounds, once you've done it a couple of times, it takes about 30 seconds.
Sniper
BTW, don't know what scanner software you use, with my HP you scan it once then select the part of the pic you want and scan again. This way you just get the pic and not the entire page.
gunner
Thanks to all! paint works, and also ifranview. The picture was straight, the scanner was crooked. If it isn't broke, tweak it.
