1984 Posted April 1, 2008 Share Posted April 1, 2008 hi guys. went to defrag my external hard drives and the ntfs drives defragged no problem, but the fat32 drives said that a chk disk had to run on reboot first. i rebooted, but it didnt chk disk. any ideas how i go about "chk disk" ing so that i can do my defrag? thanks guys. Stryker Posted April 4, 2008 Share Posted April 4, 2008 If it helps, open up a command prompt and type CHKDSK /? and it will bring the switches available to use with the CHKDSK feature. Therefore you can substitute it with this: FSUTIL DIRTY SET C: Of course change the drive letter on the end to match the drive you wish to error check.
