jjsan1
Most recent version of CC does not clear my temporary internet files (48 hour box is clear). Are there other settings to be checked? Is this a bug awaiting correction?
jackMline
Make sure that you have all the boxs ticked in CCleaner and all running programs closed I found that to work Visit My 2 Forums Made By Me Spyware Killer / PCUSER Visit My Forum
Moderators hazelnut Posted September 18, 2007 Moderators Share Posted September 18, 2007 jjsan, Some people are having a few problems with temp files and the new version and have gone back to a previous version until a new one comes out. Do NOT tick all the boxes in CCleaner without knowing what you are doing as this could change things you don't want changed. craigathus
Hi jjsan1 Some things wont be cleaned (removed) while Windows is running, they will if you restart your computer. The Information below is from the "Beginners Guide" for CCleaner, it's well worth reading the whole guide Delete Index.dat files Although essentially undocumented by Microsoft there are several hidden files, all with the filename index.dat that reside in directories on your system. These permanently cache website addresses and cookies from sites you have visited. This list is never deleted and gradually increases in size, resulting in IE slowing down. Selecting this option will mark these files for deletion the next time your computer is rebooted. (Unfortunately these files cannot be deleted immediately as they are permanently in use by the operating system.) http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds http://www.piriform.com/docs http://www.postimage.org/
shieber
That's the index file. But in any event, CCleaner used to delete the temp internet files and with the latest updates, it doesn't. If you run Analyze under CCleaner, it won't even list all the temp internet files. Hi jjsan1 Some things wont be cleaned (removed) while Windows is running, they will if you restart your computer.
