  1. will I get an email with the new CC version?
  2. I have an 80GB drive and 1G of RAM, XP. How much memory should I allot to paging? Thank You!
  3. Or does Crucial rebadge them for their resellers? The first one is through Crucial for around $70. The second one you can get at Newegg for around $50. Also, the 323834 (first one) can only be found on the Crucial web site, however, there are a lot of resellers for the 6464..... I did email Crucial with this question but no response over the weekend. Thank You! http://www.crucial.com/store/MPartspecs.As...s&WSPN=CT323834 http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.asp...WSPN=CT6464Z335
  4. Also, this is an XPHome and/or (my)PC problem, because here at work, with 800x600 setting, web pages open alike (the same size) between FF and IE. From what I can tell my security and advanced settings in Internet Options are also alike. I shouldn't even consider it a problem, it's more like a fascination (not obsession either! lol).
  5. Nope! Had already tried it both ways. From search and postings on other boards it is apparently an IE thing that can't be changed without changing the resolution. IE7 is supposed to fix it. The only fix (I searched freeware for two hours) was PrintPunk which works perfectly for those few times I must use IE and don't want to have to change reslution or scroll left and right. I'll purchase PrintPunk if IE7 doesn't correct the problem.
  6. First one is with FF. Next one IE6. Text, font size has nothing to do with it. Without changing resolution or dpi how can I get the same view with IE? Thank You!
  7. Ever since I've upgraded to ZoneAlarmPro v6........, I can't get rid of the annoying MS security alert in my system tray, informing me that I'm not firewall protected. I've enabled "will monitor myself" in XP security, however, its still there every time I boot. I've posed the question on the ZA forum but figured I'd try here too. Any suggestions? Thank You!
  8. Wow!!! Every site is loading so much faster now, can't believe this. Why is that enabled by default anyway, unless it was some sort of optimization I applied? This is giving me a whole new FF life!
  9. Solved the problem (I think! In fact I'm going over to the FF support forum and post. All kinds of image problem threads there all of the time!). In the advanced JavaScript menu I disabled Change Images. I've CCleaned several times so nothing is cached, gone back to Bestbuy.com (it was the worst site) and everything loads normally!
  10. Some sites it won't load images without refreshing several times (check out my post in The Lounge). I checked it out with this test and it passes fine: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=288184 so I have no idea what is going on. I'm at work and using MS 2000 and no problems. XP at home, Bestbuy.com is an example site where the issue happens! Thank You!
  11. on my old computer. Enough little annoyances going on with FF that I am thinking of going to it. How is it these days?
  12. On many web sites the images will not open with FF1.06 without refreshing. Bestbuy.com is a perfect example. Only have Adblock and Spellbound extensions installed. They open after refresh so it must not be my FF settings. Images open fine with IE. Also, I'm using FF at work, no problems. Any clues? Thank You!
  13. Thanks buddy! Number two fix worked. Thinking upgrade to FF 1.06 had something to do with it. It worked after the fix, then I went right back and established FF as default (I guess it doesn't really matter since I keep them both in my task bar) browser, went back to OE and the links still opened. Thanks again, it was a little annoying copying urls.
  14. Strange new problem. Still open fine in message boards. You put the cursor on a link and it's like the mouse is not functioning. The links look normal "blue" also!
  15. XP, 512 Ram and 63.94 GB of free space! Not that I'm slow, just need your opinion as to whether I should do this. It's from providers FAQ! As always thank you! "Why does my Internet Explorer seem so slow? Nine times out of ten this is due to the cache size in Internet Explorer being set to write to much to your hard drive. Each time you try and go to a new web page your computer first looks in the cache to see if you have it on the hard drive already. The larger the size, the longer it takes for the computer to do the comparison. To change the cache size and clean out the cache, right click on the desktop icon and choose 'Properties' from the drop down menu. Once you've done this the Internet Explorer Properties box will appear. Under the 'General' tab, you should have a button that says 'Settings' on it under the heading 'Temporary Internet Files'. Click on 'Settings' and another box will appear. Set the amount of disk space to use for temporary internet files to minimum and if you have the option to set the Mb, set it to between 1 and 3. Since ARMSTRONG ZOOM? is fast enough to pull pages from the internet, there is no need to keep a lot of files on the computer. Once you've set the internet files to minimum, click 'Ok' then 'Ok' again and you should see a difference."
  16. The only thing is, everything is plugged into a trippelite surge suppressor that has a battery backup. All the clocks were fine in the house too. Nothing like this ever happened before, really weird! The bigger question I have is how I lost so much speed with this modem. The other one was made by Arris but the transformer was losing power to the modem several times a day. So they install this motorola and my speeds, for the most part, have been cut by 30%/50%. I was prob averaging high 2mbps now I'm back to low 1+mb. The reason the modem was cutting out is it was showing upstream power of 58 during traffic periods. This modem is just sensitive. I got some GR6 quad shielded cable, split it right to the modem instead of sharing the wreck room feed and its been 53 all night. I think it will be even lower when I get up for work. My wife is off Wednesday so I scheduled the cable guy, however, if it stays healthy all night I might cancel. Still don't understand why I lost all that bandwidth. Good Night!
  17. Or was it just my monitor? I've been having trouble with this new SB5100 modem the cable company installed last week. I normally turn my computer off if my wife and I are both working, however, I left it on so I could check the modem log and see how often it lost connection. When I left for work at 6:30am it was working fine. When I arrived home and woke the monitor up it had about an inch or better left side black margin. I had to readjust it. I also had a terrible time getting on line, however, that may have just been router recognizing modem and visa versa. The only thing I can think of is that perhaps a program was auto updating and lost connection in the middle of it and it freaked my computer out. Oh and by the way, scanned with NOD32, TrojanHunter and all the anti-adware/spyware progs. All clean, so it wasn't that!
  18. Yes, friends across the ocean, God Bless!
  19. The transformer/plug was plugged into a surge suppressor which is located behind my pc desk (everything else working fine). I pulled the desk out and have the modem plugged into a separate outlet now. There is only about eight inches of clearance between everything that is plugged into the ss and the back of the desk. All of the transformers (router and speaker also) were hot so I suspect the modem transformer may not like the heat. I noticed the light was blinking once since I moved it, although it has been over an hour now and apparently it hasn't done it. I've been working on my truck, however, my PopTray email program checks for mail every five minutes and shows an error message if I'm off line so I'll just keep checking. I've been threatening (to myself) to purchase a modem and skip the $3/month rental, however, this issue is making me rethink that decision! Thanks!
  20. been going off periodically over the week end. I suspect this is a problem with the plug/transformer. Any thoughts? I guess what I really need to know is: there is no way it could be a cable problem, correct? Thank You!
  21. I'm an idiot! The sites where it didn't work didn't have a horizantol scroll bar open!
