  1. Pretty sure its caused by going from one browser to another as I learned here. Open internet options, accessibility and make sure the three "ignores" are disabled!
  2. I'm thinking FF was running and would have been discovered it if I would have checked my running processes! Worked fine after reboot!
  3. I know wrong forum, however, I know there is a lot of traffic here so I'm posting it here. I listened to a song via realplayer off a website this morning and now I get a text box when I clean with CC. It reads "You must close Firefox/Mozilla to allow the Internet Cache to be cleaned" even though FF is indeed closed. I do realize I can disable the box. Used 1.5 all day yesterday and early this morning without this issue nor did this ever occur with any version before. I think I'll reboot and see what happens. Any ideas why this has suddenly happened? Thank You!
  4. Yep! Just did it like I always do at update time.
  5. In my exuberance to get the new CC, this morning when I saw the website was updated the 28th, not paying attention, I re-downloaded the present version of CC. When the new version is available now, should I just do a total uninstall or didn't I make a bunch of duplicates? Thank You?
  6. Now I'm using FF1.0.7, should I install this or is this something all together different? http://www.freewarefiles.com/program_5_51_7277.html
  7. rridgely and Vanguard, thankyou for the replies! I downloaded the extension and configured it every way possible and couldn't get it to function the way I intended. I uninstalled it and did a search and found out to keep a site up in a tab with FF just open it with a middle click. So now if I think I might want to view something later without checking my history, I'll just open it with the wheel. I keep learning these simple things!
  8. weekend and using Netscape. Every site I visited during a session created a tab. Now most of my normal sites are tabbed via bookmarks, however, that would be convenient if I wanted to return to a site I don't have bookmarked during a session wihout opening my history (Go). How do I set FF to function like that? Thank You!
  9. Vanguard, you have to register now to view the results (which I did) but I could only find that it 100% passed the latest testing for each operating system. There used to be a chart that showed all the anti virus progs and how they did protecting all different systems for different test periods. All I can tell you is that nod32 holds some kind of record so that is why I chose it. I'm not trying to say it is the best. I do use cable access, however, I would really recommend it to someone on dial up because its updates are so small and numerous. Here is the VB link! Good Luck with your choice. Just found the chart, its called the comparative review. http://www.virusbtn.com/support/welcome
  10. I've had it for almost a year (11+ months). I can remember getting the big red eye ball warning on either three or four emails (probably would have to rate my email activity as light though compared to many) and either once or twice I was software searching and was falsely directed to porn sites and received the nod32 eyeball warning. I'll look the virus bulletin tests up and link it! Oh, one other thing. I have Spyware Doctor, MS Anti Spyware, Adaware and SpybotS&D and one time I ran a 32 scan and it found an ad or spyware.
  11. I use nod32. It is fast, has the best track record from the virus bulletin and continuously updates incrementally all day/week long. I'd also read it was light on resources!
  12. Have the license through work. Seems perfectly safe. As to how robust it is compared to other cleaners I'm not really sure, however, CCs registry cleaning is not its forte so you still might want another.

    Fasterfox!

This doesn't seem to have slowed anything down. Have not really tested it yet! http://fasterfox.mozdev.org/index.html
  14. Just Adblock and Spellbound. I've tested it with the other browsers and not much difference. Every other site just pops open except msn is just often slow.
  15. you? I browse with FF and Yahoo loads in the blink of an eye every time, however, more often than not msn just takes forever.
  16. I purchased a free program (GhostSurf) via BestBuy rebates. It is a pretty robust anti adware/spyware/virus program, however, I only use the anonymous surfing feature on a sports message board. That is the reason I bought it, it was a total auto setup as opposed to some of the free anonymous surfing programs. The issue I have with it, and it isn't a big deal, since I only have about six things in the startup menu anyway, is that if I've opened it and used it and don't remove it before I shut down it will always return to the startup menu. How can I edit the file to keep it out of there? Thank You!
  17. With out a doubt, BestBuy if you don't mind waiting for rebates. They have a really good, trustful rebate system. Check the weekly flier or online. My son bought my oldest daughter (poor doc student) a toshiba three weeks ago for $449. They have'nt duplicated that deal since but you want a better one anyway. Good Luck!
  18. Defrag Pagedfrg (Sysinternals) RegCompac (I always clean the reg first) Error-Checking (I guess that is what XP calls Scan Disk)
  19. Opera does seem fast, however, it is going to take some getting use to! Not sure I'll quit FF as my main browser.
  20. Never Mind! However, does it have a spell check?
  21. I tried User Mode which made them larger, however, I didn't like the rest of the web page. Thank You!
  22. Most of the members who responded to this thread would be good!
