  1. Yep, I was dumb enough to run CCleaner with the mailbox open and online, my mail page on Yahoo was blank - tried IE and it was there. Firefox: Tools/Options/privacy - clear cache fixed it fine, no need to re-run CCleaner.

AND - Greenknight I support you. My modem kicked off suddenly. It was a day later so it does not count as clear proof, but it has never happened before. It would not reconnect (redialed but then nothing) in several tries. I turned off the 'puter and came back next day -all was well.

SO - I would recommend a screen upon opening the program to remind those who should know better to turn off all programs and modem before beginning.

And thanks for the program. There is a noticable improvement in start-up time.

You have got to be kidding. CCleaner does NOT touch your HARDWARE in any way except for the hard drive which it cleans files from that and unneeded. It simply removes files from the hard drive by CLEANING out what is JUNK.

Your modem kicked off. Oh my god, please tell me you've heard of.. *gasp!* ISP's going DOWN for some time or even dropping connections!

Dropped connections happen all the time. It's a COMMON occurance, especially if you use a free ISP such as Juno or NetZero for their free service. After 10 hours they cut you off and you can't get back on, as you'll get a weird error message.

Trying to tie those things in to software that works fine can cause paranoia. Is that what you want to do? It was a freak coincidence. Next time stop and think logically before you get yourself in a panic.

I admit, I had a good laugh over this. So did my PC Hardware & Troubleshooting professor, along with the rest of the class. Anyone else find it amusing?

  2. For some strange reason IE doesn't seem to want to install any active x controls. I re-formatted about 2 months ago.

Are you able to download from Windows Updates?

Do you encounter any *.inf file errors when installing applications? (Try and install Winamp 5.09 if you use it, this one used to show a common *.inf error when I had a similar problem.)

Man they sure gave you the runaround on that CastleCops site too. o.o

  4. If U Try Everything But Still Can't Work...Best Option Don't Use IE And Use Other Browser Like Opera Or Firefox...

Alternatives are nice but they are not the solution in this case.

Why? Because when he has to go to Windows Update, attempts to go to websites or even use Msn Messenger that will want ActiveX to help him install the needed files for updates or to play games, he will HAVE to have IE for that. Even virus scanners like McAfee and others need to have ActiveX for this.

  5. Is their a way to have mail redirected to gmail or have gmail get mail from my yahoo address? (I realize this is probably impossible, but I figure that theirs no harm in asking.)

As far as I know, that MIGHT be a part of the pay services.

  6. Yeah they do but not in their free service. And theirs no way Im paying for something that I can get for free with Gmail.

Then you more than likely won't be able to get their free e-mail delivered to you in TBird.

  7. The wrong firewall can and will slow a pc down. Just look at ZoneAlarm. I noticed a huge speed difference back when I was a dialup user using ZoneAlarm Pro and then switching to Outpost Professional.

  8. I have had a Gmail acconount for quite some time now and I love it. The only problem is that I still get mail in my Yahoo account. I was wondering if their was a way to get yahoo to send my mail to my gmail acount. I love checking my mail with thunderbird and I would love for my yahoo mail to get sent their as well.

Check to see if Yahoo supports pop servers.

  9. The main concern I have is with their privacy policy. From what I understand they get info from my site such as email addresses and send ads. If you dont mind read it and tell me what you think.

This ucan be done by emailing customer support at customerservice@digitalwork.com

They can't even spell CAN properly. Peh, forget that site. Please.

A free host I heard of was neutrolon or something like that. I'll look for it again soon.
