  1. Alan...Good News and Bad News.

    Trim_4 works fine on x86. I compared the finished INI and matches what I created with a previous build.

    Not so good on x64.

    Once Trim_4.BAT is executed, there is a pause the hit ENTER to continue. Once you hit ENTER, CCleaner launches and the script does not wait for you to run Analyze and close CCleaner, but just continues:

    It also seems like the script is running the x86 version of CCleaner and not x64 version:

       About to launch CCleaner.
     YOU MUST NOT "Run Cleaner" - ONLY Click "Analyze"
     Then please CLOSE CCleaner so script may continue.
    Hit "Enter" key when ready to proceed ...
    15:25:26.23 - 15:25:26.17  = 5552623 - 5552617  = 60 mSec	   = Running "CCLEANER.EXE /DEBUG"   <<<===========
    15:25:26.28 - 15:25:26.23  = 5552628 - 5552623  = 50 mSec	   = Built #_NEEDED.LST

    Now...a suggestion for you if you choose to.

    Change TECHNIQUE :- section to this:

    INSTRUCTIONS:
    - Run TRIMx.BAT (not sure what the final number will be...maybe leave it as TRIM)
    - CCleaner is LAUNCHED automatically.
    - Click "Analyze" and when done, EXIT CCleaner
    - A temporary Winapp2.ini variant is created that asserts "Default=True".
    - "CCleaner /Debug" is launched to obtain a *.log file to identify all "Detections"
    - You then have to wait for the "Analyze" button to become active and click it.
    - After Analysis, EXIT CCleaner then trimmed Winapp2.ini replaces the "Default=True".
    - Now copy the NEW trimmed WinApp2.ini to your normal CCleaner installation.

  2. ARGHHHHH...should have tested it all before making my 1st port. Anyway, another error on an x86 system....looks like it's running CCLEANER x64....or at least that's what it says:

    This is the output on the screen

    FILE CREATION 12:05 31/12/2011
       DO NOT USE THIS WITH AN EXISTING CCLEANER IN CASE YOU CORRUPT IT
    Make a new folder for this script plus PORTABLE CCleaner plus downloaded WinApp2.ini.
    This script will create a trimmed WinApp2.ini giving a faster launch for CCleaner.
    TECHNIQUE :-
    Run TRIM_2. CCleaner appears. Click "Analyze" and when done close CCleaner
    A temporary Winapp2.ini variant is created that asserts "Default=True".
    "CCleaner /Debug" is launched to obtain a *.log file to identify all "Detections"
    You then have to wait for the "Analyze" button to become active and click it.
    After analysis close CCleaner, then trimmed Winapp2.ini replaces the "Default=True".
    Now copy the trimmed WinApp2.ini to your normal CCleaner installation.

    Press any key to continue . . .

  3. Alan...found a problem. I have hoth x86 and x64 in the same folder and I get this error:

    This version of D:\APPS\CCleaner\TRIM_INI\CCleaner64.exe is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need a x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.

    Maybe you can do something like this in the BAT file:

    IF EXIST "%WINDIR%\SysWOW64" start /wait CCleaner64.exe
    IF NOT EXIST "%WINDIR%\SysWOW64" start /wait CCleaner.exe

    Also...the program continues and does not abort after trying to run x64 file on an x86 system.

  4. I was playing around with Alan_B's TRIM.BAT and noticed duplicate entires:

    2bbf10a0fa.jpg

    I thought I made an error and finally tracked it down to the WINAPP2.INI file...it has duplicate entries:

    [Adobe Flash Install Logs*]
    LangSecRef=3023
    DetectFile1=%WinDir%\System32\Macromed\Flash
    DetectFile2=%WinDir%\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
    Default=False
    FileKey1=%WinDir%\System32\Macromed\Flash|FlashInstall.log
    FileKey2=%WinDir%\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash|FlashInstall.log

    [Adobe Flash Player Asset Cache*]
    LangSecRef=3023
    DetectFile=%AppData%\Adobe\Flash Player
    Default=False
    FileKey1=%AppData%\Adobe\Flash Player\AssetCache|*.*|RECURSE

    [Adobe Flash Install Logs*]
    LangSecRef=3023
    DetectFile=%WinDir%\System32\Macromed\Flash|FlashInstall.log
    Default=False
    FileKey1=%WinDir%\System32\Macromed\Flash|FlashInstall.log

    Can they be combined?

  5. They need to quuit following in the footsteps of Mickey$oft. Just because HDD are bigger and systems are faster, that doesn't mean you should start getting sloppy with code. I have some older Dells that no longer can bowse the net since the browser sucks up all the memory the system has.

  6. Yes, the 2 operating systems were on the same computer.

    I used a clean installed XP on it, no problems.

    I also tried a clean installed 32 bit 7 & then I found the problem with the wi-fi.

    I was using the Windows 7 default installed driver for the device.

    You should try drivers directly from Acer. I have an Acer Aspire Netbook and I don't have that issue. But.....I have hibernation turned off also

  7. How does 4 stack up to the lastest 3 series of firefox that keeps getting updated incrementally? Sigh... 8 is great, so I haven't used the older in a while... Just wondering! LOL!

    Would be weird if 3 beats 4!

    Cause they keep updating the 3 series!

    IMHO, v3 is faster then 4 but 7 and 8 beat every previous version. The true test is to run FF8 on an older system that can run FF3

    For me that would describe one add-on which I refuse to live without: Adblock Plus

    I think Hazel started a topic about FF and Add-Ons....can't recall the results.

    :wacko:
