[Unchecking certain CCleaner features over the network]

Forgive me if this has been addressed already, but I have the CCleaner Portable version installed on a network drive and I have GPO set up to run it on user start-up. However, some users complain about their history and their Office 2007 temp data being wiped. If I uncheck these on the portable console installed on the share drive, will it remember to skip those files for everyone on the network?

Settings for the portable version are kept in the INI file. So if you execute the same EXE file with the joining INI file and make a change, it will make a change for anyone that uses that EXE file.

A lot of free storage out their right now. As near as I can recall MS SkyDrive is still leading the pack at 25gigs. But, I just checked my Yahoo mail account (which I only use occasionally) and I'd received a mail from them 4/28 touting their new mail, so please forgive if this has already been posted. Anyway, they claim "Unlimited Storage"!

I have several Yahoo accounts that I rarely use and they get the most amount of spam then any of my other accounts. I'll still to GMAIL.

....it could quickly be resolved on the web site by putting a section for the SLIM or U3 version and either Coming Soon or Not Available directly next to it.

That a IE TEMP you are pointing to. As Hazelnut said...why are you using Recuva? I'd run CCleaner 1st and if you still get the error, reinstall IE8.

I have never used the full blown installer. Dos it prompt you to install the "extra goodies" or just install it?

Thanks for the reminder. I thought I found a key but I just checked on my system and it does not change when I enable or disable Defender.

Hi, Tr3bg0D. AFAIK, the main difference is that the slim version doesn't install any extra stuff like Yahoo or Google.

 

If you use the full installer, you have the choice to install the toolbar or not. If you do NOT have that choice, there is an existing registry entry that skips it. I'll see if I can find the reference for that, but don't wait up.

Yes but my point is that the portable version does not install anything other then the program and an INI file. So why the big deal with the Slim version? If you have CCleaner installed and the Slim s not available, just overwrite the exe from the Portable version. So sorry, I don't see the big deal if no Slim version.

This was touched on in another topic area. I do recall now when I had this problem and UAC was on, it still would not run at startup even though the task scheduler was configured that way. I had to create a shortcut to the task and place that shortcut into the startup folder.

Damn!....I kept turning it off the wrong way. I was shutting down the scan option and not disabling within the Administration Option.

 

....still gotta find a REG Tweak.

I've never been able to find a reg tweak to shut off Defender. Seems to be a pain to manually shut off.

I had this problem in Vista and read somewhere to create a shortcut to the Scheduled Task as suggested by Majestic, and placing that shortcut in your startup folder. Also simply executing the Scheduled Task shortcut will not give you the UAC warning.
