  1. Overwrites deleted files so they cannot be retrieved by recovery software such as Recuva. Also writes random data in space that never had files.
  2. ishan I finally maxed-out my Sys Vol Info so I could check how long it takes to open CC's System Restore page and display all. It took 40 secs to search and display 14 points totaling 20.0 GB.
  3. Thanks Aethec. (I have Firefox will: Never remember history.) I'm still learning FF. Edited
  4. Try this: in Firefox Menu Bar \ Tools \ Options \ Privacy ✔Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session Your history / chronik should not be saved.
  5. And if you want to dl from hippo: 1. Click filehippo CCleaner link 2. Click Download Latest Version 3. Click Save File (Mine saved to kroozer \ downloads by default.) How tedious is that?
  6. C'mon Admin, lighten up, be reasonable. It takes only a few seconds to click on a page or two before starting the download. I hate to seem sarcastic but you sound like the overly rich person who complains about having to count all the money in the bank accounts every month. CC is a good free program even if it lacks all the bells and whistles that would save a few seconds for you once in awhile.
  7. I can only guess that the team reads the suggestions and mulls them over in a committee meeting and decides if they want to adopt some of the better ideas, which is what I see in my own work experience. There are so many suggestions offered it would be ludicrous to expect adopting all of them, they can't let the programs grow into behemoth bloatware. They probably prefer keeping the current size with only the necessary tweaking to improve functionality. One must understand that for free programs they offer much value at no cost to the user. I believe Piriform programs attract so many users because they are relatively easy to use as well as free of charge.
  8. Here is an interesting page for those who like to clean the registry. http://www.edbott.com/weblog/?p=643
  9. In CCleaner Applications \ Firefox/Mozilla ✔Internet History. Also, in Firefox Menu Bar \ Tools \ Options \ Privacy you can control the history settings including clearing.
  10. Es gibt keine chronische Firefox. Danke für den Spaß. Es hellt unser Tag. There is no Firefox chronic. Thanks for the joke. It lightens our day. Footnote: re(tired) Herr oompoop has left his humorous footprint on many forums. Kiel, Germanistan exists only in his impish imagination.

    See if this helps.
  12. Where did you select the program to be downloaded to? Mine download to users\kroozer\downloads by default. Download it again from here and select your destination folder beforehand.
  13. Hi mysta02, welcome to the forum. You are obviously very patient. I commend you for that. I could not possibly wait that long for CC to finish a run. I use both Firefox and IE8 and clean with CC version 2.32. It takes an average 7 seconds to finish !! Maybe mine is so fast because I run CC more than once daily. I'm thinking right now you need to reinstall CC to see if you can get a faster run. If that doesn't work try a clean reinstall (completely uninstalling CC followed by a new install). Revo is a good free uninstaller. Maybe even get a new CC download from.
  14. I think you are being impatient - it's probably not hanging. It takes time to gather all that data. Mine is slow also but I simply wait awhile and it appears, and I have a fast computer.
  15. How do you perform a System Restore with CC?
  16. Please clarify. You're saying you crash when you try to remove Restore Points using CC?
  17. Vista Security Tool 2010 hit me in March. It shot right past Defender, Mbam and Avast, crippling all of them. But it didn't touch Spybot. I managed to begin removing the infection with Spybot and after freeing the other programs I ran deep scans with them and removed all of the infection. Thumbs up for Spybot.
  18. No. CC removed only junk files from those programs. You're OK.
  19. I emailed them already. So far received just an automated acknowledgment. Must wait up to 48 hrs for help. I decided to query the membership while waiting. Probably many of us installed that software when icedrake posted the link back in April. Corrupted copy? My original dl 4/17 was 2157 KB, re-dl today is 2196 KB (39 KB more!!) and reinstalled. Haven't tried it yet. Ran full sys scans with Spybot, Defender, Mbam, Avast. No malware found. Meanwhile I am evaluating Returnil RVS 2010 Home Free.
  20. Are any other users having Time Freeze trubbs? Twice now when I switched off Time Freeze to save the cache it has crashed along with Windows, goes into Check Disk, reboots and I find has trashed all my Restore Points. Has been working fine since 4/17 until Fr 6/4 and again today 6/9. Am I the only victim?
  21. Disable MS defragger. MS defragger is not going to defrag your disk unless it is in bad shape so I doubt it will ever run.
  22. I vote the heading of this thread be changed to the Gutmann method. and moved to the Lounge.
