  1. I'm on virtual but not brave enough to check it out.
  2. Avast blocked when I tried visiting the site.
  3. It's listed. Windows \ Windows Explorer \ ☑Run (in Start Menu)
  4. If scottls doesn't want to endure another time consuming wfs can't he just delete the wfs files?
  5. You probably have numerous Sys Vol Info files being counted, which are not defraggable. In settings\options\exclude add C:\System Volume Information and see if that reduces the amount after analysis.
  6. My Vista Sys Vol Info is at a lowly 4.17GB currently and peaks out at ca 20.6GB so your 1.17GB on Win 7 is negligible. Can't you just end-task CC?
  7. Read this. Edit: Richard, you're playing with us. You are into Computer Servicing, Programming, and Networking yet you don't know internet slang and bookmarking?
  8. @ Richard: You may want to bookmark this for reference.
  9. If you are asking can just one restore point be deleted, yes. Click on that point and press remove.

    Backup .REG

    Not weird, Ishan, good thinking.

    Backup .REG

I don't remember where the default storage is, but once you save it to a designated folder it will always go there. If you are having difficulty locating the file I suggest you install the warp speed search engine Everything. The saved file will resemble cc_123456789_123456.reg
  12. Thanks. I'll try remembering that because I won't test it now.
  13. When I end-tasked explorer.exe I had no start menu. Typing "tskill explorer" into a command prompt would have been impossible. Everything disappeared except task manager, and explorer.exe had disappeared from that menu. Keyboard was disabled. Could not reboot, had to power down with box button.
  14. D?k. Pros?m ode?lete zpr?vu spr?vce. Contact admin.
  15. Good reading, Dennis. And here is Feenberg's paper Can Intelligence Agencies Read Overwritten Data? A response to Gutmann. Edited.
  16. Yes. Read Dr Gutmann's explanation "In the time since this paper was published - - - " under Criticism here.
  17. Most other posters, including Dennis, have far more experience and wisdom than I have on these matters, and a prudent, cautious user should heed their recommendations, as I do. In this situation I am giving you advice based only on my experience with several Norton uninstalls on my current Win Vista box. Since you have Win 7 my advice may be inapplicable and have deleterious consequences. So proceed at your own risk.
  18. Great! If it's not activated just uninstall in the Control Panel\Programs & Features. Right click on it and uninstall. Takes ca. 3.5 mins.
  19. First check your installed Norton program to see exactly what you have. Let's suppose you have Norton 360 v4.0. At the Norton site click on the Norton 360 v2.0/3.0/4.0 link and follow the instructions.
  20. When you decide to uninstall Norton download from here and run the Norton Removal Tool.
  21. I perceive that wieri506 is not into translating, but is asking if Piri can provide a Kurdish language edition, a daunting task. There is Kurmanji and Sorani Kurdish, one script is Roman and the other is Arabic.
  22. Yahoo and Gmail. Still have an old Lycos account but rarely use it.
  23. Happy ending. I have an emachines and I would like to know exactly how to access it. Is it the emachines Recovery Center listed in the start menu? Or is it the repair function in the uninstall list under Programs and Features?
  24. For the cache of (ahem) embarrassing stuff maybe you would feel safer with TrueCrypt. Also you can surf with private browsing. As for the unchecked boxes I too am apprehensive checking them unless necessary, as I just did to clean Tray Notifications Cache. So I leave 'em unchecked.
  25. Thanks Andavari, it worked on my Vista, but not exactly as you described. After end-tasking (End Process) Explorer.exe under Processes, could not retask, so I had to shut down with the box power button and power up. Custom Notification Icons list shows all but one past item (Windows Task Manager because I just opened it) gone. Starting anew with a clean list.
