  1. Maybe these will help. http://www.techspot.com/vb/all/windows/t-1...ms-problem.html http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/clear-re...-recent-folder/ http://www.vistaheads.com/forums/microsoft...start-menu.html I have encountered another problem with the Recent Items folder in the past. I have used a registry cleaner and it changed something in the registry. The Recent Items folder is still there is the Start Menu, however nothing will be listed in it even if I have opened quite a number of files. I tried enabling and disabling it too by going through Properties/Customize/Advanced menu but still I had that problem. I was able to fix the problem by doing a registry tweak but I can't remember how that was done really, since it was a bit complex.
  2. Tell us what was the exact name of the other registry cleaner you downloaded??? And maybe give the link of the page where you clicked that large download now button. Maybe the guys here can investigate that.
  3. Has anyone experienced this situation where Windows Live Photo Galley gets too slow in generating icon previews of pictures??? I hate it this way and its been going on for a number of occasions. There are images that it can show but most of the images, well they look like numb thumbnails, not showing previews of the real images in small size... They would show the real image when I click at them, that is when I had to edit them in some way but in the Gallery view, they can't be seen. All I see are these dull thumbnails. The Windows Photo Gallery that came with Vista actually worked much better in showing those images in the gallery view. Is there a tweak that can resolve this??? Here is a screenshot.. http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp80/Bi...g?t=1265898229/
  4. CCleaner does have a column for size. Its just not all programs have their size info listed. Look at the screenshot from this link. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?act=at...ost&id=3942 I think the size column will NOT appear if you are using Windows XP, I think. See another suggestion in this link.. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=26661
  5. I have tried this Paint. net last year. I think you can actually download that from Filehippo. I also used Google Scetchup which I got from the very same website. I did a 3D model of a house with it actually.
  6. You ain't kidding there, having read that thread, I was surprised of how arrogant that guy, Bill turned out to be. Maybe he was afraid that his work might get overmatched. I still appreciate things around here that people show more than what was on Youtube.
  7. Well I don't think CCleaner can use wipe free space on shared hard drives.
  8. If the other hard drives are external hard drives, then CCleaner can't clean them with the wipe free space option.
  9. Well maybe he is not an expert and maybe you can't do anything better than what he did in your own thing so we can't just judge him like that. And you have to consider the possibility that what you see on Youtube can be fake. You see that they have shown those videos on fast forward and notice how straightly they made those lines? Applying paint layers, barely using the magnifier tool to make a fine coloring. If I was using an average mouse to draw, I can't do that for ten to a hundred years. I believe that an artist is an artist in his own will and you don't need to make a Mona Lisa to prove that. Mona Lisa is originally by Da Vinci without those fancy fast forward showoffs. If you make a Mona Lisa, it may seem UNORIGINAL so that degrades artistic sense. Look at abstract painting for instance, you can't immediately find out what takes shape, you need to create your own definition of what that image means and that for me is art.
  10. If the other hard drives are easy to navigate anyway, you can browse through them and delete unwanted files manually.
  11. Go to Options in CCleaner, then you see Settings, click it, it should show you behavioral settings in CCleaner, scroll down and you can see checkboxes for the drives you want the Wipe Free space operation to execute. Just check the drives you want wipe free space to run on although this will take a lot of time if you have all of them checked. Look at the screenshot.
  12. Its looking like something went wrong with the registry. Give more details please and have you made any backups of the registry fixes you did with CCleaner if you did any???? Pinballs come preinstalled with Windows XP and that is not the kind of game that you usually install using installation disks. Maybe a screenshot of the problem will make things clearer.
  13. I don't even think CCleaner has a "full" version since its free and not paid. I would say, a standard version has the toolbar installer for the Internet browser and the installer for the program itself. Slim version does not have the toolbar installer, I think. Portable versions are built for USB's. They come in zip packages that you unzip then extract to your USB so its gets installed there. But I have not yet seen a table that compares all the CCleaner builds at least to this point.
  14. A thousand errors, wow that seems so much. On an average PC that has never had registry cleaning, CCleaner would normally detect a few tens or a few hundred errors but I have never used CCleaner on a computer that it detected more than a thousand errors. Perhaps another registry cleaner with a much deeper registry cleaning feature can detect that much however they are usually paid. CCleaner is free and is perhaps the most widely used and most famous utility software out there in the Internet right now and could it be that someone made a counterfeit of CCleaner, modified some of its features, took advantage of its popularity, then made a paid version out of it so that they could get the proceeds for themselves??? Anything is possible. And this crook right now might have found a way to distribute the fake product into the trusted site where you download CCleaner. Quite an alarming situation, if you ask me.
  15. LOL what you see from above are just samples and are not serious.
  16. Well as I said before, you can post any fancy image you like. OK, lets write off Imageshack. I have samples of my work..... Sorry, I seem to run out of space for thumbnail attachments. http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp80/Bi...pg?t=1265797927 http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp80/Bi...pg?t=1265798061 What I'm trying to do is something like what's in this forum. Follow the links and see some examples.. http://forum.the-west.net/forumdisplay.php?f=54 http://forum.the-west.net/showthread.php?t=32137 http://forum.the-west.net/showthread.php?t=16986&page=2 If you like making icons, then show them here for us to see.
  17. Hi, in response to February Desktops, I want to see some people show off their artistic talents by posting images of graphical material made by themselves. The subject could be anything as long as it is modest and is made or designed by yourselves using any image creation or rendering software out there you can use. You can also edit existing images as long as the design concept is yours originally. You can also show images that were not made by you that you think is fancy and will attract attention but you have to state where you got it from. It can be in thumbnail, Imageshack or Photobucket.
  18. Maybe a few changes in the UI will make things better. I think they should also change improve the context menu.
  19. Maybe there is still something in your computer that needed those keys. However, they seem malicious to me. As long as they don't slow down your PC in a significant way, they probably won't be a problem, unless of course they are some viruses that have attached themselves to the registry. Why don't you do a virus scan???
  20. Oh yeah, then what will be the other things in it then??? How or where did you listen to Andavari's music???
  21. Metal is for the hardcore and that very strong noise and shouting, screaming kinda degrades the fine musical quality. If you hear something like the Bohemian Rhapsody, that is what I call music. Its a classic. It has 35 million views in Youtube. No doubt the greatest rock songs were written in the 60's and 70's and the greatest rock bands and musicians lived in those eras.
  22. Well there is a saying: "Just do your best and God will do the rest." Good luck...
  23. You have to say that 36GB is small size in today's standards. Maybe if you want more space, you can get yourself a new hard drive. If you are using Vista, the space consumption would just be massive and freeing space would soon be filled again anyway. Vista also has this automatic backup feature I guess which may be turned on by default. Its on the Control Panel. I wouldn't fully recommend disabling that. A lot of consumed space could be from Windows Update. Its there in the Control Panel under Programs and Features. You can view installed updates from there and uninstall them but you have to be careful of this. Better disable automatic updates if this is the case. Also, I suspect you might have two or more installed drivers with different versions for just one particular hardware. I suspect this could happen if you have automatic updating turned on. Just correct me on this one. You may also consider removing files and programs that you no longer need. There are more cleaning options in CCleaner under the Advanced category which are unchecked by default. Better have a go at them, however wipe free space will take some time. I do remember using CCleaner on a computer whilst I have those checked and it freed more then 1GB!!!! There is this cleaning feature in CCleaner that says, Wipe Free Space. Better check that and run CCleaner. With the size of your hard drive, it should take maybe 10 minutes to complete. I remember using this feature once and I freed up some space which was a lot bigger than I expect when I was using Vista. I don't recall CCleaner notifying me that such a space was freed at that particular time but whether or not its connected there, I can't be sure. Just uncheck the wipe free space option again when you are done. However, there is a free program called Advanced SystemCare 3 which has a disk cleaner function. It has this Utilities button that shows you a number of tweaking tools. The disk cleaner function that does some deep cleaning ability which is safe in my view. It should also free some space. Better Google search this one. There is also another free program called Eusing Free Registry Cleaner which I used while I was still using Vista to clean the registry and it freed up a few hundreds of MBs worth of space. However this tool is less safe in my view.
  24. Its better when you delete saved passwords so when someone else uses the PC and the same browser, they won't get the passwords. The compact database option just came a few versions ago. I don't know what its for really. LOL yeah, maybe I missed Sorry.
  25. That's a sad story. I agree with the yard sale. However in terms of jobs, I think many people in the US are suffering from unemployment. However, you should know your expertise and maybe based from that you can get a simple job that does not require much rather than going to a lender and increasing the debt even further. Another tip is of course to be thrifty on the expenditure of things. Get only what's necessary. There are also jobs in the Internet if you have the skills of course but there is no telling whether they are scams.
