  1. I do not have my av scan my email, I rely on the guard/real time component of the program to 'watch over me'.

When I had avast I tried the email scanner on but it slowed the email download to a crawl for me.

Also the best email scanner to have is probably myself, not opening attachments etc from unknown senders.

I do have an email spam guard however with my Online Armor which adds the words 'spam shield' in front of the email header, so I don't even have to bother looking at them. :)

  2. Perfect Disk and quite a few others do offline defrags, but I think we all like to choose which program suites us, and our system, best.

It would be boring if we all used the same software :)

  3. You could always call back at the shop which installed it for you and tell them you have noticed a marked drop in performance since they installed it, and see what they say.

  4. From a help file....

With most defragmentation software, Windows’ own defragmenter being a case in point, files such as Page file, Hibernation file and files that are currently being used are never touched.

With PerfectDisk's Offline Defragmentation option PerfectDisk will first try to unmount the drive. If this is not possible then you will be prompted to schedule an offline defragmentation pass the next time you boot your PC. The defragmentation of these files will then take place in the pre-Windows environment (DOS environment).

PerfectDisk can also be scheduled to run this offline defragmentation on a regular basis every time you boot the PC.

  5. After a little googling have a couple of ideas but mfenech, I have no idea if they will solve your problem.

    1. In device manager settings look in ide atapi controllers and make sure by right clicking on the primary and secondary properties (advanced) that they are NOT set to poi mode.

    2. reset cmos to default in bios ( I'm sure someone like fireyone may have a lot more idea about this than me)

Also does the event viewer list any errors.

  6. When I try to create a virtual os, it's stuck in loading some hardware like video card. Well anyway is it allowed in this forum to be off-topic sometime?

Topics do stray sometimes, perhaps it would be a good to start a new topic about virtual apps as this one was really about sandboxie. :)

  7. Go to: Tools - Preferences - Advanced. Then choose 'Downloads'. Find swf file type from the list and select "Edit". Make sure that "Use plugin" is marked and there's "Shockwave Flash" selected. Hit OK twice.

Have done all you suggested ceecee and have also uninstalled and reinstalled the shockwave payer, also updated to opera 9.21. Still no joy, and all this time IE7 can play them!!

When I have a bit of time spare I will try reinstalling opera as that seems to be the only thing I haven't tried yet. :D
