  1. Just been having a play with these free games for fun, they take a minute to load, a look at the instructions is a good idea.

Also see there is some other stuff here as well. Will give the browser a try later on.

EDIT Softpedia on one page gives a warning about the browser and then on another, gives download link

It's that stopbadware.org thing, missed it the other day as I was away on holiday.

  2. Here are a couple more small utility programs to use in certain situations.

They are not substitutes for having a full av etc on your computer, and some are not compatable with vista.

As with all things like this, read the instructions. Along with the one CeeCee gives above, these should cover a lot of

problems where you know the name of the virus/malware.

  3. Hellp Bambam :)

I don't use vista myself but I gather HP Total Care is an HP vista product.

You say you checked the CCleaner backups, did you not right-click and choose merge which would have restored any reg items from the issues scan you did?

    Did you try system restore?

CCleaner does not remove windows updates, only the uninstallers, and only if you tick it in the advanced section.

I've seen various problems people have with this product such as here

Also run your virus and malware scans again and if you are suspicious at all, post a hijackthis log in the hjt log analysis part of this forum.

  4. Ok Craig, you've talked me into it, I think it's a winner.

I've just worked out that with all the members we have here, about 16 thousand and they want 5 thousand (pounds)

That's less than 3 and a half pounds each!!

We could rename it to CCleaner image hosting

  5. speytone, my advice to you is do your research very carefully into each service, before you even consider disabling it.

Sometimes services depend on other services. It's very easy to get carried away with disabling things.

Your start up slowness can be caused by other things such as software conflicts.

Just how long does it take to startup? Which bit seems the slowest?

(Not against disabling services, but just want you to take care :) )
