  1. Seems to me this topic has been thrashed to death lately. AVG and Avast are both free and yes Etrust costs. rridgley says Etrust is best and uses less resources. It's free for one year so get it , use it, and if you don't like it after the trial period get a freebie.....
  2. ........and I am also a bit wary when someone thinks that (other similar) free programs are the only way to go. I utilize trial versions and shareware.......if I find the trialware suits my needs I purchase it. As for shareware if I use it I donate. Different strokes for different folks.
  3. If you are contemplating purchasing I can recommend Registry First Aid. A very powerful application, easy to use. Have been using it for over a year now and it does a good job. I believe they still offer a 30 day trial?! I also utilize the freebie RegCleaner.
  4. The version I downloaded from rridgley link this AM was (v7.0.8.1). We are talking eTrust EZ Antivirus Right?!
  5. Perhaps you should list what you already have tried. In the meantime have a peek here. http://www.purgeie.com/delinv.htm
  6. Have you tried renaming it? The old one that is!
  7. Try this.....copy the dll you downloaded. Open system folder. right click anywhere and paste. It should ask you if you want to replace the old file with the new.
  8. rridgley........a question re etrust EZ Antivirus 1 year free trial. Is it the full blown version of their latest application?

  11. Hey Ridge.........what makes you think he's using a Mac. Have a look at the top left corner of his screenshot. Doesn't that mean he's using Windows XP??? Or is he using a Windows platform on his Mac.....Nice to learn new things???
  12. I have WindowsME as well and this has happened to me on a couple of occasions< What I have done when this happens is >Analyze and when a blank window shows up, clean anyway. Then run the Analyze again and it should show you what it previously cleaned. Reboot and try again.
  13. ........and cleans some other files as well.
  14. Not a dumb question........Delete all Cookies/files/history and all off line content. The off line content (simple explanation) if you had saved a page to desktop for viewing later when off line. However CCleaner is the program to use.
  15. Thanx for the insight Andavari.
  16. I'm curious as to why I haven't heard from any of the CCleaner "GURU'S about index.dat files. CCleaner has these files listed under Internet Explorer as an option. However after running the cleaner the index.dat files are stated as "marked for deletion" and not deleted. How do I delete them using CCleaner. Can one of the more learned members clear this up for me?
  17. Was just snooping around and googled for index.dat files and how to delete them and found this neat little tool. It's not free but the trial version works great and used "EulAlyzer" to check it out. http://www.milincorporated.com/milshield2....ective_cleaning
  18. Let us know what you think of EulAlyzer! I find it quite informative.

  23. Don't wait.......give him a PM warning and............... I myself use a-squared, Spyware Blaster, Spybot, Ad-Aware and a small app from Vietnam Solutions called "VnS14H" which works silently in the background. I have used it for 4-5 months and appears to work very well and contains no spyware or adware and is free. Also use CCleaner of course! AVG Free and ZA Pro (paid)
