What action do you take before the crash (analysis, clean, custom clean, driver update, etc).

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.

I just run a custom clean..  but, I may have solved the issue. I updated my anti virus and seems to have stopped crashing.  I am using Avast.   I will let you know..

It can often take some AV's a while to recognise a new CCleaner version, some are particularly prone to it because they don't update that often.

Because the new software version is not in their definitions/database they don't recognise it as a safe app that needs to give itself elevated permissions - so they stop it from running as soon as you open it.

You should have any AV set to update itself automatically, but even then certain ones will take time to add new versions of softwares to their definaitions/database.

Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Worried about why some files come back after cleaning? See this link:

Can you run in commandline the following

"C:\program files\CCleaner\CCleaner.exe" /debug

With rhe quotes but replacing c:\program files\CCleaner with the location of your CCleaner install.

Then recreate the crash.  And attach the output debug text to this thread.

I take that back, it still crashes after a custom clean.  It finishes the scan, but, after about a minute, it crashes.  I have it in the system tray when it crashes.

So you click on 'Run Cleaner', and you say that it finishes, but what happens then?

ie. exactly what are you meaning when you say 'crashes'?
Does it freeze, close, give an an error message, something else?

Has it actually finished, does it show you the 'Cleaning complete' screen?
Or has it stuck partway through?
If it is sticking then what does it say just undeneath the green progress bar?
