hi,

i have the lastest version v.5.70.7909 and i have recent documents unchecked as you can see in the image bellow.
and the problem is that my recent opened file list gets deleted
https://prnt.sc/u3fc67 and https://prnt.sc/u3fcx8

Can you fix this or give an option not to delete that? i think i've already unchecked Recent Documents but not working

its not working from a long time ago...

As Hazelnut asks, but also:

Which app is the recent file list being removed from?

Note that the unticked item you show is for Windows Explorer, (File Explorer), if the recent list is being removed from another app then it may be a different setting that you need to untick for Custom Clean.

it also removes recent folder in explorer ( the ones that are not manually added to the list image.png.a8150f68f301d3fb65126d35f9201f68.png

i dont have to manually pin them to the list

So frequent folder list are also deleted( the ones that are not pinned on the list)

It must be some kind of setting you have. I have it unticked and custom clean doesn't delete mine.

So if you look at something does it appear in your recent files list? (before you use ccleaner)

Did you update over the top of the last CCleaner build?

I was wondering if a clean install might help.

Also try ticking and then unticking the Recent Documents list. (Tickboxes sometimes get 'stuck')

I'm wondering if it is Windows itself that is removing them?

I can't get Quick Access to even use the recent files list. I set it to on but as soon as I close file explorer Windows resets it to off.

Hsl, if you leave file explorer open showing the list, and run CCleaner with that window still open then do they still dissapear?

That's the one that I'm meaning.

Frequent folders stays on for me but not Recent files.

As soon as I close File Explorer then Recent files has dissapeared altogether when I open it again.

I am on Win 10 2004.

Yes is that folders that two list frequent folders and recent files , as you can see you just have there desktop downloads and documents and you can see there the pin icon that ones it dont delete from there but all others are deleted and also all recent files.

Frequent files also gone unless are with the pin

They all gone when you close the icon or go to other place

i'm on win 10 v2004 but it also occurs on other  build versions

I don't delete Frequent Folders just all Recent Files.

Recent Files stay when I close File Explorer.

Are Recent Documents different to Recent Files do you think?

I am beginning to think that something is not right as CCleaner cleans my Recent Files if I have it ticked or unticked.

Thing is that I have not run CCleaer at all, I've not even opened it.

So what I am seeing seems to be Windows itself.

That is what we are trying to work out; just why this is happening for you.

Like I say, I am stuck - I can't even try to test things because Windows will not let me keep the "Recent files" list in File Explorer Quick Start at all.
And I'm not sure why Windows won't let me keep that list; but I am sure that is Windows doing that and not CCleaner.

It may be a Windows setting that I have changed in the past and forgotten that I had changed it?
(It is the kind of thing that I may have done because being used to 40 year old computers I sometimes work in a different way with recent files).

As Hazelnut can still see the 'Recent Files' then maybe she can work out what is happening for you.

Have you checked all these settings listed here?

#1,3, & 4 were what I was having no success with, #2 was the setting stopping them.

Recent Files show in Quick Acess if I turn it on, but I don't want to see recent files in Quick Access so have left it turned off for now.
If I remember correctly I originally turned it off in the reg editor.

I've not tested if closing FE removes the recent files for me, that's a bit remiss of me but I've had beer and wine (friends birthday) and prefer to do any testing with a clear head.

Of course that is not helping hsl so I can turn it back on again for testing if needed - once I'm sober again.
