emwk23
please could someone tell me just why c-cleaner takes so long to clean the temporary files from the firefox internet cache? this never used to be a problem for C-cleaner : it used to take barely longer than it did to analyze the files for cleaning. now it takes forever. i c-clean at least once a day and so it isnt down to there being a huge backlog of work. also it doesnt matter if i have just cleaned it. and havent used firefox since i last did. for example- an hour ago i analyzed with c-cleaner which said roughly 1300mbs to remove. after 5 mins of it being stuck at 43% and stil saying it was cleaning firefox i went out. when i came back 20 mins later it was still at 43% and cleaning firefox. i cancelled the operation and c-cleaner said it had managed to clean 800mbs. so i analyzed again, ran the cleaner and gave up after 20 mins of watching it sit at 43% still cleaning the internet cache of firefox. whats up with it? Moderators mta Posted February 15, 2017 Moderators Share Posted February 15, 2017 if you haven't yet done so, there is a new version; https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds what is your OS and FF version? is CC still slow cleaning FF with the PC in Safe Mode? Léon
It is "normal" that CCleaner takes ages to clean up Firefox. That's why I always run Privacy Eraser (cleans up Firefox in one minute or less) before starting CCleaner. After that CCleaner is pretty fast in cleaning up Firefox. Moderators mta Posted February 15, 2017 Moderators Share Posted February 15, 2017 also achievable with Enable Browser Monitoring in CC turned on, but of course, that's a Pro feature. Moderators Andavari Posted February 15, 2017 Moderators Share Posted February 15, 2017 Try this as in the past it was the cause of slow cleaning of Firefox that I discovered: 1. Start CCleaner. 2. Go to the Firefox settings in CCleaner and untick/disable: Compact Databases If it speeds through cleaning Firefox the next time you use CCleaner the Compact Databases was the issue. Léon
Disable 'Compact Databases': no difference. The item that takes such a long time is "Internetcache".
trium
i dont think its compact database... i have made the same observation as in post 1 - with full ff-cache ccleaner need a long time for cleaning and it cleans every single temporary folder one by one. i think it can go faster...
