Patti
I have just bought a new computer and need to know how and what to delete from my old one before I get rid of it. I don't have much in the way of files, maybe a few letters, etc., but that is it. Is there anything in ccleaner that can help? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you. lokoike
No, haven't cleaned it yet, doing it this Friday night hopefully. Thanks. Don't worry Patti. Eldmannen is just messing with you! If you bring up Command Prompt and enter in "format C:", it will prompt you to totally erase the contents of that drive, including the operating system! Thankfully, you can't actually format your primary OS hard drive while that OS is running! Save a tree, eat a beaver. Save a tree, wipe with an owl. Every time a bell rings, a thread gets hijacked! ding, ding! Give Andavari lots of money and maybe even consider getting K a DVD-RW drive. If it's not Scottish, IT'S CRAP!!! Moderators Andavari Posted March 22, 2006 Moderators Share Posted March 22, 2006 If you're going to sell your old PC to someone and if you've had sensitive data on your system (banking account info, addresses, etc.) you may actually want to secure erase the hard disk using something like Eraser. I believe it has the ability to also create a bootdisk that will erase a hard disk as well.
Glenn
Eraser 5.7 will create a DBAN 1.0.1 floppy but it may not handle newer drives. You can get DBAN 1.0.6 in floppy version or CD version at http://dban.sourceforge.net/ It's freeware.
