fredinma
Why do you use filehippo as the site for downloading new versions? When one clicks the link to download CCleaner, it goes to a filehippo page that has at least 4 large Download buttons. Only one of these is for CCleaner, the others are for various types of adware and spyware.
Moderators hazelnut Posted February 23, 2014 Moderators Share Posted February 23, 2014 Piriform own FileHippo. Is this the page you are downloading from? I don't see any other downloads there (but I do use a host file) http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ You could also download ccleaner from here http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com

eL_PuSHeR
I didn't know either. Anyway Piriform is a company you can trust. @OP: What web browser do you use? Try using Adblockplus with it. You will notice a world of difference.
Moderators hazelnut Posted February 24, 2014 Moderators Share Posted February 24, 2014 Well I was wrong They don't own FileHippo but just a have working relationship with them as a distributor of Piriform products. I guess I better resign now As to the issue the original poster mentioned an adblocker such as one like eL_PuSHeR mentioned would be a good idea, or even a hosts file. Derek891
The solution takes about 15 seconds of your time. Right click the download button and then click Properties. Then you will know if the link is legitimate. Start every day with a smile and get it over with. - W.C. Fields
Winapp2.ini
Agree with the adblocker, filehippo is completely clean for me with ABP installed. Always has been winapp2.ini additions thread winapp2.ini github
login123
win xp here. No ad blockers, no special host file (although those are good to have). At Filehippo, search for CCleaner also calls up ads by Google for Webroot, Norton, Kaspersky and ESET antivirus. No spyware nor adware visible . . . I've done it many times, never seen adware nor spyware. Aw, gee, Hazelnut, that post might jeopardize your chance to win the Golden Laptop for 2014. The CCleaner SLIM version is always released a bit after any new version; when it is it will be HERE :-) Pssssst: ... It isn't really a cloud. Its a bunch of big, giant servers.
