Does anyone know what bug fixes / feature improvements were made to today's update for Defraggler v. 2.14.706 (released 23-Apr-2013)?

The change log for v. 2.14.706 is posted here but it looks like they removed the change log for v. 2.14.705 (released 18-Apr-2013).

705 was pulled as it had a fatal bug 706's change log contains all the fixes listed for 705 AFAIK

the only major difference (I assume) is a squashed bug

The bug being very slow defragging.

Thanks, Andavari. I performed a clean re-install of v. 2.14.706 and Defraggler appears to run faster on my 32-bit Vista system than v. 2.14.705.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm running 2.14.706 on a PC with an Intel Core i5 processor running WIN8. Started running Defraggler to defrag an external 2TB drive with approximately 1TB of files on it. It has been running all day and still reports 21 hours to go. Here's what's happening: one of the little squares turns yellow, then the external drive makes a thrumming noise for about 20 seconds (I assume it is writing data), stops for three seconds, and then the process repeats itself. Two naive questions: 1) is it normal for Defreggler to take that long to defrag an external drive and 2) is it safe for my external drive to be continuously writing for 40 hours or more?

Depending upon the amount of data and 1TB is allot it can take a very long time for it to re-arrange your files if doing a full defrag. As for if it's safe on your disk as in not wearing it out I don't know.
