bluegold
I have HP Lap Top with window Vista 32 bit. When pull CC Cleaner and go to up dates it comes up MS Office Word ( does the same thing with Defraggler). On the top of the screen it says "update (read-only) - Mi*****ft Word non- commercial". I went into CC 's properties thinking read only was checked & it was not. I uninstalled & reinstalled & it still does the same thing. I f log onto the net the home page comes up without a problem. Does anyone have any idea what would cause this and how to correct it??
Corona
I get the feeling MS Word 2010 is seriously flawed. I've had other non-related problems with it.
Moderators hazelnut Posted March 21, 2012 Moderators Share Posted March 21, 2012 I have no idea why this happens but I have read that some folk get this 'read-only' with some docs and then they cannot delete them etc. For some it turned out that closing the doc via the X in top right was not closing the doc, but merely the page. Closing down via the 'exit word' in left drop down menu solved it. The 'read only' issue can also be helped by saving the doc as .tf, then back to .docx. Lets see if anyone else has this ccleaner issue. Which version of Office are you using? Moderators Nergal Posted March 22, 2012 Moderators Share Posted March 22, 2012 I'm going to disagree with the previous posters. What it actually sounds like is that you have mistakenly told mircosoft word to open HTM and/or HTML files. Get a Copy of (portable) Default Programs Editor and look at it to see what the default open with for those two files types are. Also is "update (read-only) - Mi*****ft Word non- commercial" exactly what it says? with the ***** and everything???? bluegold
The top of the screen says " update (Read-Only) - Microsoft Word non-commercial". It alsp displays the word tool bar. Where you would write it says" Pirifom' then products, solutions, download support, partners and about. What is odd it does it with CC Cleaner an Defragler. I did uninstall both and reinstalled but it does the same thing.

Moderators Nergal Posted March 22, 2012 Moderators Share Posted March 22, 2012 Edit the Open and Open in Same Window (if it's there) to "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" %1 exit and in Command Line DDE put a check mark and "file://%1",-0,,,,, for Open "file://%1",-1,,,,, for open in same window into the text field with a scope of Extensions of this file type (this information was pulled from Windows 7 and XP but should be the same on WinVista) ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. bluegold
I did as you said. It gave me 2 choices 1. 2007 MS Office componet or 2. Internet Explorer. When I opened it 2007MSO was hghlighted. I changed to IE. Clicked OK. Tried updates & the same problem. We back to check which was highlighted & 2007 MSO was highlighted. Tried 3 times same thing happened. For some reason it is not saving the change. Also, on the bottom it says" Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" the box is checked & cannot be changed. What am I doing wrong? Thank you
