How do you format a link these days?

OK, dumb question, I guess, but here goes. In the old days it was possible to format a posted link so that the url was replaced by the text of ones choice, and it could be colored.

The box that dropped down looked like the attachment called "Insert Link".

The box now looks like the attachment called "Link". The bottom panel, "Link Text" is gone.

I notice that kroozer can still do it the old way, here: http://forum.pirifor...ndpost&p=206679

I'm probably missing something really obvious, so that is my Duuuhhh question for today. :)

The CCleaner SLIM version is always released a bit after any new version; when it is it will be HERE :-)

Pssssst: ... It isn't really a cloud. Its a bunch of big, giant servers.

I use old school method for making a blind link. This is the code ►

@@@

e.g. To make a blind link to http://news.yahoo.com/ replace XXX with news.yahoo.com/

replace @@@ with Yahoo or whatever linking word(s) you want to use.

replace YYYYYY with color code of choice in this chart http://www.computerh...in/htmlcolor.pl

Edited next day: ComputerHope is down this morning so I'm linking an alternate color chart

I bet the folks over at Invision could make it really complicated if they worked at it. :P

Using nodles way, link to Invision. Worked like a charm.

Thanks very much, nodles & kroozer. Not so obvious, so maybe I have not gone completely dull yet.

I liked the old way more which promped for a link, then text.

Me too, I actually figured that out without (much) help.

One of the annoyances with making a link now is if you goof up and have to edit it, it will then automatically link any correction even if you're replacing text, etc., which is why I just cut+paste any such post of mine into a plain text editor (like Notepad), then paste it back into the "Reply to this topic" box on the forum so I can fix it.

Improvements that make something dead simple more time consuming and difficult!

Heard somewhere that it's one of the complexities of incoherent design. :P
