valcan
Hello all, I updated my old CCleaner version with the latest one v. 3.10.1525. Now I'm receiving by my AVG Resident Shield following alert advice: "File Name: c:\Programmi\CCleaner\CCleaner.exe" "Text: Impossible to scan the file. May be file structure is unvalid (Address 6aebd0f6)" "Text: found on file opening" Screenshot attached. I neveR had problems with older CCleaner versionS, my AVG version is 9.0.901 and DB virus is 271.1.1/3865 updated today. My system is windows 2000 professional Service Pack 4 Update one. Is anybody that experienced this situation and that can give me an answer? Thanks on advance. Regards, Mario - Rome/Italy
Moderators Nergal Posted August 29, 2011 Moderators Share Posted August 29, 2011 This seems to be a false positve in your Anti-Virus. As long as you got CCLeaner from either this site or from File Hippo (these are the ONLY two official sources for piriform softwares) than you just need to let AVG know about the false postive and they should fix it for the next virus definitions. ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. valcan
Nergal, thank you for prompt reply, I agree with you I suppose this an AVG false positive as I downloaded CCleaner from this site. I wrote a post into AVG forum some days ago and I'm waiting for a reply from them too. I will keep you informed in case. Bye, Mario
Moderators Andavari Posted August 30, 2011 Moderators Share Posted August 30, 2011 Most antivirus' either have a built in "upload tool", or such said tool built into their websites for reporting a false positive.

I'd check to see if it runs on W2k first, but you can get it on Filehippo.
Moderators Andavari Posted September 1, 2011 Moderators Share Posted September 1, 2011 I'd check to see if it runs on W2k first, but you can get it on Filehippo. According to the Softpedia.com download page it does NOT support Windows 2000! OS: Windows XP / Vista / XP X64 / Vista64 / 7 / 7 x64
