Stuborn folder can't be emptied

When I try to delete temporary files the conventional way in XP, [ start > programs > accessories > system tools > disk cleanup] there is always one folder in the list which never gets emptied. It is called “Webclient/Publisher temporary files” and leaves 32Kb undeleted.

I tried your CCleaner and it didn't work.

That particular folder never gets emptied, and always shows 32Kb.

Question is why.

I honestly don't know the answer to this one... but I'll take a stab at it.

Is there anything in C:\WINDOWS\Offline Web Pages ?

Thanks DjL for trying to help me.

You may have a point. I looked at c:\windows\off line web pages and the folder looks funny. Instead of the familiar yellow folder icon, it is gray with two curvy arrows, one pointing up, one pointing down. There is nothing in the folder, unless it is a hidden file. Unfortunately I don't know how to make hidden files visible.

everyone has the folder, and it is supposed to be empty unless you have subscribed to have offline files... and it was only a guess, and I was probably wrong.

Oh... never mind, there's probably just some stupid index file that Windows keeps... ignore the 32 KB, it's not killin' ya. ;)

This is normal in any XP installation.

I borrowed this from another forum.

"WebClient/Publisher file 32K in your Temporary Files ~~

This file is a necessary component of your Network capability of Windows XP. -- Deleting is unnecessary and between you and me , what is 32K of space on a Hard Drive today!!

There are many ways you can make it dissapear temporarily -- but on boot-up your O/S will re-create the file. That is a needed file."
