FombellBobby Posted March 7, 2008 Share Posted March 7, 2008 I have been a user of RegSupreme Pro by Macecraft for a long time. A major software company recommended CCleaner to me to fix an uninstall problem. I have an installed program that Windows can't uninstall. If you launch their .exe to install again it offers the REMOVE button to remove previous version. Yes, completes and finishes with no problems. But the program is still there like nothing has changed. so I ran CCleaner and Registry cleaner and it fixed a lot of things. Not this program. Does not change anything. I've actually gone back to the senior software engineer that recommended CCleaner and told said........what now? how do I uninstall this software? Any ideas? Moderators Andavari Posted March 7, 2008 Moderators Share Posted March 7, 2008 If the program was compiled and installed using Microsoft's Windows Installer, you could try the free Microsoft Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. FombellBobby Posted March 7, 2008 Author Share Posted March 7, 2008 yes, the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility was one of the first things recommended. the problem is the program doesn't even appear in the list of installed programs after you launch. Jamin4u Posted March 8, 2008 Share Posted March 8, 2008 Hi, you might want to look at Revo Uninstaller. I heard about it on a forum from a trusted member. I have never used it, but I see great reviews on the web. I remember him saying to use it in advanced mode. You should read the help file before using. Always back up your registry. I use Erunt for backing up my registry. It has saved me more than once. Also set a restore point in Windows. Moderators Andavari Posted March 8, 2008 Moderators Share Posted March 8, 2008 This "may or may not be of help," it's a completely freeware program called Revo Uninstaller (no adware, no spyware) that's as the name implies an uninstaller. It has a feature that's supposed to aid in removing programs with missing or broken uninstall routines. I've used Revo Uninstaller in the past myself, however I've never had to deal with a broking uninstaller with it. Being that it's something from Real I can only imagine all the registry data, and possible system files it has put all over your system. After you remove it either with Revo Uninstaller, or manually remove it you'll need to run CCleaner's Registry Cleaner multiple times until it no longer finds anything. I would have to use a program that could do the job for me. Yes, do as Andavari says use CCleaner to clean your registry after removal. There is no substitute for CCleaner's Registry cleaner. FombellBobby Posted March 10, 2008 Author Share Posted March 10, 2008 Ok, I'm really impressed. Revo Uninstaller removed the program. RealProducer basic is gone from my system. I was a little skeptic about all of this and corrupting my system. The desktop icon and the Start Menu entry were left but those I just deleted. I checked with Control Panel Add/Remove Programs and the listing was gone. I checked with CCleaner and it was not in the list of programs to remove. I downloaded Revo Uninstaller and installed it. Didn't even really look over the program at all. Saw that Uninstall was the first icon. I chose to uninstall and found RealProducer Basic in the list. It located many other items related to this program and I blieve that is the true key to the power of this program. There were remnants everywhere! I did choose SAFE mode to really play it safe and not corrupt things on my systems. It continued to find things on my system related to this program and I just chose to delete them all. After completing the process it appeared as though it was gone for good. Here are the processes Revo beat to finish the process. RealProducer's own .exe install program has the power to uninstall their own program and that didn't work! ! ! Scary huh! CCleaner couldn't remove it. Windows Cleanup Installer Utility didn't even recognize it. So far, I'd say Revo Uninstaller which I'd never heard of before, was the 'just in time' program. Jamin4u Posted March 10, 2008 Share Posted March 10, 2008 I'm glad to see Revo worked for you. CCleaner's uninstall tool is for convenience only, and not for uninstall problems. It runs the uninstaller from the program you are uninstalling. I recommend that you keep CCleaner and use it in your maintenance routine.
