  1. Making this change broke my Sticky Password extension in Chrome V50.0.2661.102 m on Windows 10 x64 insider build 14342.  The extension became inactive.  I had to uninstall it from Chrome and then re-install the extension via the Sticky Password program.

    No surprise, exclude keys are usually added for good reason. Generally a bad idea to remove them from the universal winapp2 file just cos it causes no problems on one persons system.

  2.

    Yesterday I got the pop-up saying that FF 46.0.1 was available to download, I was busy at the time so declined it.

    Today when I check in the browser it says that my 45.0.2 is up to date.
    (Although if I go to the Mozilla download page it still gives- "Looks like you’re using an older version of Firefox").

    There are a few issues posted today on the Mozilla user forum about 46.0.1 causing some site login, mouse control, Flash, and other problems.

    It looks like the FF automatic updating/notifying may have been withdrawn for now, you may want to give it a few days before updating.

    All working fine here (touch wood)

  3. What you should also realize is that Winapp2 is not just for CCleaner anymore. There are 3 other cleaners that use Winapp2.

    Other program's issues, or inadequacies, aren't really winapp2's problem. They are free to maintain a list more appropriate for them instead of copying that made for another program (IMO)

    Smalik is also right that it isn't just Winapp himself that makes this all happen. We all have been contributing entries to Winapp2 for years now. 1 person wouldn't have made all this happen by himself. A little appreciation towards people who have been contributing their time to make entries wouldn't hurt once in a while.

    I've always been happy to provide entries, and help on this forum, purely to help the community, not for any kind of gratitude. I'm happy I've helped, and know it's appreciated. Obviously different people, different attitudes :)

  4. I don't know about him, but some of the admins here will get upset on this suggestion. I know they have insulted you previously when you asked when this file would be updated. The exact same thing happened to me a while ago. Some of the admins here are like dictators.You remember when he said that Winapp2.ini will be updated twice a month. Now, it isn't even updated ONCE a month.

    Trust me, it's not only the admins that get fed up with people getting pi**y about the file not being updated. It's something that is done by winapp, on a voluntary basis, fitted around school and real life commitments, nothing to do with Piriform and with nothing in return for his time and effort. So when people start whining at the lack of an update it's a pretty crappy way of showing your 'gratitude' for said time and effort. ESPECIALLY as all the entries are HERE, if you're that desperate for any of them, copy them from here to your winapp2 file yourself :rolleyes:

  5. New Entry

    http://winaero.com/blog/how-the-windows-8-task-manager-calculates-startup-impact-of-apps/

    [WDI Logs*]

    LangSecRef=3025

    Detect=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows

    Default=False

    FileKey1=%WinDir%\System32\WDI\{*}|*.*|REMOVESELF

    FileKey2=%WinDir%\System32\WDI\LogFiles\StartupInfo|*.*|RECURSE

    Those files aren't specific to Win8 task manager startup tab (as the link suggests) as they are present on my Win7 system (which doesn't have that function). Have you got any reference to their safe deletion, Google is not being very helpful.

  6.

    Revised Entry

    [Clover JumpListIcons*]
    LangScRef=3024
    Detct=HKCU\Software\Clover
    Deault=False
    FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Clover\User Data\Default\JumpListIcons|*tmp
    FileKey2=%LocalAppData%\Clover\User Data\Default\JumpListIconsOld|*tmp

    FileKey1 was misspelled.

    Unless I'm going blind, the above is spelt exactly the same as in winapp2, where's the mistake? :huh:

  7. I've just spent the last hour trying to find a solution to this, I suspect there isn't one but....

    For a while now some people's emojis on Facebook have only displayed the blank box. After finally getting round to investigating I discovered it was a system wide Windows 7 issue (ie not a FB or browser issue).

    So anyone know a way of getting missing emojis to display?

  8.

    I asked if there's an entry in Winapp2.ini that could have caused it. If there's not I would contact someone at [competition] and obviously not discuss it here.

    Then try running CCleaner with winapp2 and see if it does the same, then ask. Otherwise it could be the other programs issue

  9. Good point. I am surprised people even use updaters anymore, like Filehippo update checker and others. Every program I have ever use have a auto-updater built right into them to keep itself updated.

    I use one because I don't like auto updaters. They usually mean having a process running at startup, or in the background, or you open a program to use it and end up delayed cos you get an update notification and have to download and update before you can use it. I also like to check the changelog before updating any program. So I use Sumo updater and update programs when convenient to me (used to use FileHippo updater but it's been worse than useless for a long time now IME)

  10.

    I also use it the Portable edition, and I too won't use it much longer when Chromium ends XP/Vista support. I've been weening myself off it with Firefox Portable which I also use. At least Firefox is more stable and uses less memory on my system.

    Oh Firefox is still my main browser (hard to ween yourself of all these seemingly essential extensions  :D ), but with the direction Mozilla keep taking it, I'm increasingly looking at my second browser as more of an "on test" future main browser, and Iron simply isn't cutting it for that role.

  11. Thanks for the update notifications on Iron Trium, think I'm one of only a small number still using it as a second browser :D (though not for much longer, I think it'll be replaced with Vivaldi very soon)

  12. Feel free to express your reason why ;) conversely whomever believes they should be merged express their reasons too.

    Different programs, different users. And don't think merging entries solely on the basis that they are by the same developer makes sense, let alone increasing the lines of code nine-fold for an entry, just so as to add entries for software the user doesn't even have. In my opinion ^_^
