  1. I agree, definitely should not be added IMO (plus that folder also contains Nvidia help files here)
  2. But if it crashes, doesn't it use those autosave files to recover your project when you restart?
  3. Does that need an entry, it deletes on closing the program doesn't it (mine's empty), and you wouldn't want to delete it whilst working on a project?
  4. I installed it to test and that's where it installed by default, that was all I was saying. And making only those changes the entry worked so there's nothing wrong with the rest of the entry and it should work if those are you directory paths.
  5. The path appears to be wrong, default install path would make the entry the following: [Performance Maintainer*] LangSecRef=3024 DetectFile=%ProgramFiles%\PC Starters\Performance Maintainer Default=False FileKey1=%ProgramFiles%\PC Starters\Performance Maintainer\Backups|*.*|RECURSE FileKey2=%ProgramFiles%\PC Starters\Performance Maintainer\log|*.*|RECURSE FileKey3=%ProgramFiles%\PC Starters\Performance Maintainer\Logs|*.*|RECURSE Of course filekey1 shouldn't be included as we don't delete cleaner program backups do we
  6. What's the betting it gets held back for the nice round number of 30
  7. Not present on mine, only the patterns-backup files and patterns.ini, no patterns-1 etc
  8. Big thumbs up for posting the changelog as a reply here, saves seeing an "updated" message, then clicking back to page one, then clicking on changelog
  9. SUCCESS There was another bunch of updates today and all but the malicious software removal tool failed. They gave the same error I was getting previously, but ALSO a second error code - 80071A91. Searching for solutions to that second error code found the following suggested fix (posting for anyone that stumbles across this whilst searching) which WORKED and was able to successfully install all todays updates AND the original troublesome update Reset the File System Resource Manager if you receive error 0x80071A91 1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as administrator. 2. In the Command Prompt window you will need to type the following, and press ENTER: fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\ 3. Note: You will need to replace the C:\ with the drive letter that Windows is installed on. 4. Restart your computer, and then attempt to install the failed update(s). Would be curious to know what the above actually fixes, and how it got messed up in the first place, but guessing it'll be one of those wonders of Windows that defy logical explanation
  10. So it would be an easy fix then to stop those users coming here - either they remove the link address when using it, or you can remove it, after all most users who have it from here got it from this thread so probably know exactly where to come. Edit: Actually, having just read the first section of winapp2 for the first time, I didn't realise "they who shall not be named" were named in the file, let alone so prominently. So we can host, and promote download of, a file with 'their' website, Twitter, Facebook, donate links, yet we can't mention the website on the forum thread all that is hosted? What, briefly, are the licensing issues Nergal mentioned? (feel free to pm me if stating that is also too sensitive to post)
  11. No one's arguing (seriously), so personal note not necessary. If that's the rule though it may be an idea for a mod to do a forum search for the program at some point and remove links to it as that's what I did to make sure I was ok to link to it's site. Perhaps a forum sticky could be made at some point stating that it can't be discussed and why (I presumed it was the same reason as why we don't discuss or help with rival cleaners, was totally unaware of licensing issues)
  12. You wanna have some consistency then as there are several posts suggesting, and linking to, the CCEnhancer site here previously (that's where I got the link from ). And they clearly don't know where to go or they wouldn't keep turning up here, so I don't see any problem pointing them in the right direction, after all the purpose of this forum is to help people isn't it
  13. CCEnhancer is not a supported Piriform product so questions about it won't/can't be answered here I'm afraid, try the CCEnhancer site (MODERATOR EDIT: LINKING TO SITE ALSO NOT SUPPORTED, IF USER HAS IT, THEY KNOW WHERE TO GO).
  14. Thanks Hazel. He seems to be having a slightly different problem as his won't download, mine downloads fine but refuses to install (shows how much use those error codes are don't it!). And it gives no more information other than saying installation failed and that error code (the "get help with this error" link doesn't even take you to the right error code help page) Oh and having not googled for a few days I tried googling the error code and update number - only got my own post
  15. Already suggested, and tried, but thanks for the suggestion.
  16. Yup, as said, I tried that. I'm just glad it's not a security update or something more important as it seems the update is just gonna have to stay uninstalled
  17. Thanks for the suggestion, didn't work. And as already said, used the .net removal tool and tried installing the update without .net installed and after reinstalling. I think the .net think might be a red herring but it seems no one else is having a problem with this update
  18. I used that .net tool Hazel, it was one of the suggested fixes on the MS site, and did the last suggested step in the MS page of removing all versions of .net and reinstalling, then trying to install the update, didn't work (even tried installing the update with .net removed, just on the off chance it might work)
  19. Am I the only one that can't install todays Windows update - kb2923545? It's supposed to be a fix for potential update errors yet, ironically, I keep getting an error when trying to install (Win Update gives an 80070643 error code). Have followed all the suggestions MS gives for that error code HERE, and downloaded the hotfix to install manually, but still no go. Is it just me? And anyone any other suggestions?
