  1. You said you tried to restore them using Undelete. Have you considered doing system restore??? That can hopefully recover some files that were accidentally deleted or even recover uninstalled programs that were still present at the time the restore point was created.

Please restore the system using System Restore to a time before you ran CCleaner. This will be your best bet.

  2. 1. Advanced Disk Cleanup

The common disk cleanup method that is done by the computer's own disk cleanup module (namely cleanmgr.exe ) is simply not enough but Windows has a secret but advanced disk cleanup module that not so many has ever heard of.

To use this, open an elevated command prompt, paste this text:

    %SystemRoot%\System32\Cmd.exe /c Cleanmgr /sageset:65535 & Cleanmgr /sagerun:65535

and hit ENTER. Just scroll and you will see many rather odd categories it can clean.

I am not sure whether CCleaner can clean all of them but note that it is neither required nor necessary to delete all of them. This is from Windows 7, not sure about XP and Vista.

    2. Clear the Event Viewer in Windows 7 in just a double click

I have suggested before in this THREAD about clearing the Event Viewer.

The Event Viewer in Windows XP is so much more easier to clear than in Windows Vista and Windows 7 but here is a script. Open Notepad and paste the following:

    @echo off

    FOR /F "tokens=1,2*" %%V IN ('bcdedit') DO SET adminTest=%%V

    IF (%adminTest%)==(Access) goto noAdmin

    for /F "tokens=*" %%G in ('wevtutil.exe el') DO (call :do_clear "%%G")

    echo.

    echo goto theEnd

    :do_clear

    echo clearing %1

    wevtutil.exe cl %1

    goto :eof

    :noAdmin

    exit

then save it as Clean Viewer.bat

That should be the exact name. Its a batch file, save it on your desktop or wherever you want. Just double click it and a command prompt should run, clearing all log lists on the Event Viewer. It works on Windows 7 but I'm not sure about Windows XP and Vista.

Note: Do this only is you absolutely don't need the log lists of the Event Viewer anymore.

  3. I love to see flowers bloom at this season but I also like to see fruiting trees.

I enjoy eating watermelons at this time of the year too but since it is hot, every rain drop is a blessing.

Hey Andavari, if Hazel is from the UK, from what country are you????

  4. No need to shout in font size 3. :P

Recycling is a good idea which has to be done anyways as oil will become even more scarce. The planet will get hotter on its own anyways and could potentially be uninhabitable for life regardless of "the human outside influences rather they be true or false" going just by what astronomers state about the Sun growing hotter as it ages. So in the end everything will be completely recycled anyways, and of course reused, although we won't be around to see the outcome.

It is not a good to reason that "the Earth will have the inevitable fate of being swallowed by the Sun anyways". Yes, the Earth will get hotter because of the growing sun but not for another 5 billion years, long after the descendants of man have found another planet to live. What matters is the "near" future. That future that will happen in our lifetimes and the next few generations to come. And just after a few decades, there has been significant changes.

And how about the next ice age, some might ask??? Many thousands more years and the huge world population cannot live through that as well.

Quick changes in nature that could happen in just a few years or a few decades will have a catastrophic chain of events as man will have quite little time to adapt especially now that we number in billions.

I think what man is doing now is shorten the time that his species can survive into this world and that is demonstrated by a lot of us now who refuse or are too lazy to take action.

Sorry to divert the discussion here by the way.

  5. No, CCleaner does not want to delete those programs. It simply wants to delete log files and other junk files that those programs have created that are now virtually useless the same way CCleaner deletes Mozilla or IE's browsing history so its safe to run the cleaning operations while those are checked.

  6. From the severe winter we had the news was all over that GW topic, and some experts have stated it may just be a ploy to get funding. That and the documentation that was leaked about the leaders in GW possibly falsifying information to governments and the world population that again leads right back to them wanting money.

I'm still spraying away with the Chlorofluorocarbons, but it ain't getting any warmer where I live.

I believe in it, not by the expert's point of view but my own point of view cause it really is getting hotter from where I live than just a few years ago. Global warming does not necessarily mean that all of the world will be hot but what it does is climate change which alters the normal seasons of hot and cold around the world. You know, the climate does not just go eccentric over just a few years unless an outside force (such as an asteroid impact or large volcanic eruption) has been altering the balance of nature. I live in the tropics so we are in a community prone to climate change.

Yeah suppose that not all what the experts have to say are true but at least we now have more reasons to conserve and re-think what we do in this world for future generations, right????

  7. The Obvious way is simply Options > Include > Add then Browse for the drive you want to be included in the cleaning process and from there you can also specify which file types you want to be cleaned.

Make sure you have the later versions of CCleaner so you can have this option but I am not sure if CCleaner is able to distinguish normal files from junk files inside external hard drives.

  8. You mean Global Warming is taking its toll. ;) And it's only started.

Yes its taking its toll but it has already taken a lot of effect on the world today.

Sometimes, its no longer global warming, its global burning now lol.

  9. ok look i edited my question is it understandable now

    its not that hard

    i dont understand

    plz be clear

    or something <_<

The default disk cleaning option on CCleaner should be safe for you so its safe for you to delete junk files it detects. Bear in mind that junk files over time are recreated so if some junk file you deleted before reappears the next time you do cleaning with CCleaner, that is normal.

However, the Wipe Free Space option should be left UNCHECKED.

But the registry cleaning is the risky part so unless you make a backup or a restore point, I suggest you don't fix anything with the registry cleaner.

    To find system restore:

Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools > System Restore and just follow the step by step procedure to make a restore point and also get there if you are going to make a restore operation.

  10. In our place, its looking like the introduction to a hot year with 32 degrees Celsius room temperature average. Imagine it being 35 or 37 outside, we call it summer not spring. The sun's rays felt too hot like they can burn the skin unlike just a few years ago when they were cooler.

Global Warming has taken its toll.

  11. In the Include, you INCLUDE folders you want CCleaner to clean as well.

In the Exclude, you EXCLUDE or spare folders that you don't want CCleaner to clean.

Before, you click the FIX on the registry scan, make a system restore point or verify if you have one.

Also try using a free program called ERUNT The Emergency Recovery Utility NT, just Goggle search on that. Download and install it. Use it to make a backup of the Registry in case CCleaner deletes any important registry entry.

After you have done the above procedure, fee free to hit the FIX button. Although, I fixed all the registry entries CCleaner has detected, it has given me no problems that I know of but I could not garantee the same for you so do the backup systems I gave you above first before using the registry cleaner tool.

Please feel free to navigate in these forums as well and you might find a lot of previously asked questions similar to yours with given answers.

    Have a nice day...

  12. What operating system do you use??? ( Vista, XP, Windows 7)

First, check if your speakers or headset are plugged properly on the back of the PC and are turned on. Make sure they are set to maximum volume as well.

Second, check the computer's sound volume by clicking at the icon that looks like a speaker on the side panel. Make sure it is not muted.

Dust the inside of the CPU cause dust can make things not work.

Verify if you have made a backup of the registry entries if you fixed any with CCleaner.

Verify if there are any malware infecting your computer.

Verify if there are any other people who have used your computer. Maybe some of them are responsible.

With the help of someone, check your computer's BIOS if the sound device is enabled.

Do system restore to a date before last Wednesday, the date you said your sounds disappeared.

To do a system restore : Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools > System Restore and just follow the step by step procedure and make sure you restore the system to a date before Wednesday.

If none of the above techniques work, get your motherboard's setup CD if you have it and reinstall the sound driver.

Or you can try doing Windows Update as that can also download new and updated sound drivers for you.

Note that older sound drivers tend to not work over time so maybe you can download a new sound driver from Windows Update and restart the computer for that to take effect but do this after none of the above techniques work.

If that still does not work, maybe there is a physical damage to your hardware.

  13. Several versions of CCleaner does not clear the field, Run in Windows XP (vouchs to version Windows XP x86 SP3) The problem has still not been repaired.

New bug is too long progress of cleaning, even when nothing is removed or is it just a few KB

Too trips on spelling by your leave , I'm from Polish as well softly know english

    CCleaner version 2.30.1130

Maybe the Wipe Free Space option is checked, if so, uncheck it. That is something I would not recommend to be checked too often.

  14. Besides CCleaner, I also use Eusing Free Registry Cleaner v.2.5.1 and so far, it is less safe than CCleaner so what I do is that I manually choose entries it detects to the ignore list. Eusing is something I would not recommend for inexperienced users whereas CCleaner does detect less issues and surely not the best registry cleaner, it is safer for inexperienced users to use cause there is a lower probability of it causing damage.

When a registry cleaner detects issues, it does not necessarily mean that you have to fix or delete them nor do you have to religiously clean the registry like what I did in the past and my system ends up damaged to some degree.

Before you do any registry cleaning, always reserve a backup and a restore point so any damages can be undone if any does appear.

One feature though of Eusing Free Registry Cleaner, I would want is that it has the ability to delete references to removable media such as references to setup CDs and USBs which are invalid as the removable media associated with them is no longer there.

  15. Please make a system restore point first in case something gets wrong. I think not all of them are safe to delete.

I think the ones listed under Unused File Extensions are safe to remove as long as they are file types associated with removed programs.

Invalid Default Icon should be safe in my view as well. But I guess you better leave the ones listed under Missing Shared DLL as they are more sensitive cases.

  16. There's also liberkey (see this current thread which is pertinent to licensing issues ... http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=27197&hl=) and PortableApps.

As portable apps rather than installed apps, the concept is not new. Portable apps don't, of course, have to be installed on portable media.

Portable Apps seems a bit well. I recently downloaded Open Office Portable from that site since I had no MS Office (I had to rely on Wordpad for document writing for some time). I also want portable applications since they don't need to be installed and leave orphaned registry entries when removed. But so far, Open Office Portable seems prone to crashes at least in Windows 7 so I had to run them in compatibility mode for Windows XP , not sure if that will improve it.

  17. To me it seems too easy. Too easy. I really have to question if this is legitimate.

I think I'm going to play around with this on my VM tonight... I'm really intrigued.

You are gonna try that on your virtual machine??? Keep us posted if there is anything malicious.

  18. The "add or remove programs" control panel in windows xp pro now takes a long time to launch since installing and using CCleaner. More than a minute usually. Has anyone else had this issue and is there a fix?

When I was using Windows XP, I do remember a point where My Computer I think was very slow to launch. I suspected it was due to lack of maintenance but it passed by eventually and at some point it wasn't that slow anymore. I suggest you first do all maintenance tasks like disk cleanup, check disk and defrag.

If you have not made any backups of registry cleanups you made if you did any, please try doing system restore. That will hopefully restore damaged registry entries if there are any. Make sure to restore it to a point before you installed and run CCleaner and before the control panel went nuts. If this does not resolve the issue, this may not be the work of CCleaner.
