  1. Perhaps it's because the cookies were deleted, try this: 1. Open CCleaner 2. Disable/Uncheck Cookies under the CCleaner tab Windows->Internet Explorer

    Freeware!

Since allot of us post images in many forums I've began to notice that allot of bandwidth can be saved if some images were saved as .png image files instead of .jpg and then optimized. advpng http://advancemame.sourceforge.net/comp-readme.html Recompression utility for .png files. Comes with the advancecomp package.
  3. I must admit I use allot of apps that don't even touch the registry and run strickly from an .ini file, or a command line driven. Here's my list:
  4. Highly and very remotely unlikely that CCleaner will mess up the registry. It's the safest cleaning tool available!
  5. Take a look at this thread: http://forum.CCleaner.com/index.php?showtopic=801
  6. I second what DjLizard said! CCleaner is a safe cleaner, having it mess with whole profiles or windows backups would make it an unsafe cleaner that the average user would eventually make a grave mistake because they wouldn't know what they're doing, hell even an experienced user could shoot themself in both foot. I can only image the complaints that would spawn up all over the forum with people saying it deleted a profile, it deleted a Win backup and now a service pack can't be removed, etc.
  7. Don't know if this will work or not, since it's for forcing defragmentation on low disk space. Command Prompt, type in: defrag -f c: replace c: with the drive letter you want to to work with.

    ccleaner

...unless it removed so much junk that the disk now needs to be defragmented.
  9. Nope, no automatic registry backup in NT based versions of Windows, you can read about it in erunt.txt: http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/erunt.txt
  10. I've been getting false positives for months now about some CoolWebSearch sites I block in the HOSTS file.
  11. There's a Nokia (don't remember model number) on a T.V. commercial here in the U.S. that supposedly has it.
  12. I don't know what 139.com tries to do or not and ain't to interested to find out, however it started showing up a few years ago in my firewall log's. I've been blocking it for many years now via Internet Explorers restricted sites, and via the HOSTS file.
  13. Read erunt.txt, pay close attention to what's in Introduction.
  14. CCleaner doesn't touch or mess with with: C:\Windows\System32\Shell.dll C:\Windows\System32\Shell32.dll
  15. Below listed in the code is what Mozilla Suite does. Its the default cache files only, if you download file(s) for instance a setup file it will create one especially for it. C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\User Profile\*.slt\Cache_CACHE_001__CACHE_002__CACHE_003__CACHE_MAP_ It also doesn't save files as people are used to in Internet Explorer, they have no extensions. This could possibly be a reason why it's more difficult to get virus, and spyware infected via Mozilla Suite, and Mozilla Firefox.
  16. Has anyone else seen this TeaTimer GUI bug? Notice how the action buttons are only about 10% visible.
  17. I hope so with v1.3 it takes 12 minutes on my old Win98 system.
  18. A good example is: Buy a Kodak digital camera, install the EasyShare bloatware, oh look it installs BackWeb Lite as the updater component, those sneaky software developers, can't fool me or my firewall. Ad-Aware doesn't detect BackWeb Lite. Spybot SD partially removes BackWeb Lite, however with a little manual labor searching the disk and registry it can be completely removed.
  19. Good one! That comment made it even funnier after I read everyone else's reply.
  20. I use CCleaner multiple times each day, sorry I don't keep a count. Perhaps CCleaner should keep count of how many times it's used each day.
  21. I've seen allot of diagnostic suite's, however I've always wondered if those that come pre-installed on a utility partition from the PC manufacturer's are any good.
  22. From Lavasoft: HexDump LSP Explorer
  23. I use Word 2003 practically everyday therefore I just un-checked in CCleaner 'Applications->Applications->Office 2003'
  24. I agree. Without programs like CCleaner letting things like that go unchecked would litter the registry.
