I uninstalled it from Add/Remove Programs, but still couldn't install new version.
I think it's recommened to use Flash own Uninstaller.

The Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller is a valuable tool for troubleshooting and testing detection schemes.

That is the recommended way to update Flash.
Yeah, i always use the uninstaller, before intalling new version.

Switched back to AVG. i was lagging a bit in C:SS and some other games as well.
How is that? Anyway, it's always good to stop AV real-time protection, when playing games.

i am using AVG but after hearing this update i may switch back. is it all worth it? i use AVG Anti-Spyware and SUPERAnti-Spyware for scanning.
BIG fan of AVAST! since 2005
This Avast spyware protection works in real-time also.

Well I've switched over to Avast Home Edition today, can't beat all that protection in one program!
Good choice.

How's your full system scan time now them, has it increased, etc.
Don't know, havent tried yet.

rridgely: "...you can create a new anti-rootkit task in the Enhanced User Interface, if you have the Professional version..." Btw, they are going to release a stand-alone rootkit scanner soon.
...
That spyware protection works in real-time also.

http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-4-home_pro-...on-history.html
-avast! now contains a built-in anti-rootkit protection
-avast! now comes with a built-in anti-spyware protection
-new self-defense function to prevent active malware from terminating avast! processes as well as corrupting avast! files and registry items
Way to go Avast!
Edit: Found this message by Avast forum moderator, concerning anti-rootkit and spyware protection:
Yes, those features are integrated into the ordinary scan... so there are no special options (well, you can create a new anti-rootkit task in the Enhanced User Interface, if you have the Professional version, but basically you can say that avast! protects you against spyware and rootkits automatically).

Well there is an internal updater in the Java section of the Control Panel. How would you use that updater if you removed Java before updating? If removing the old Java first before installing the new one is the proper method why is there an update option in Java?
Well, i don't use that Java updater. It's better to download new version manually. Of course you can use the updater, if you like.
-
I don't. I install the update than go uninstall the crap left behind. Never had an issue.
The proper way is to first uninstall current version, delete leftover folders and remove leftover registry entries. Then you can install new version from the clean table.
-
Always uninstall the current version on your computer, before installing new version.

Some toilet paper moisted with some water.
Nothing else.
Especially toilet paper is not good. Always use a microfiber cloth (made for optical systems). They are inexpensive. You can wash them many times. From Wikipedia: To clean a microfiber cloth, wash with warm soapy water and rinse well.
-
Proper microfiber cloth for optical surfaces should not left any lint.
-
-I've used laptop/notebook screen cleaning wipes before, but they leave this light film on the screen which is by the way only visible when the screen is turned off.
-I wonder if the cleaning solution for polycarbonate lenses ("plastic eyeglasses") with a microfiber cloth would be a suitable replacement?
- Like i mentioned in my earlier message, this happened to me also.
-I recently bought lens cleaning microfiber cloths (dry). I dampened it in a warm water. It did a very good job. Screen is now very clean and that film left by wet wipes is gone. So a lighty dampened microfiber cloth is highly recommened for LCD screens. If the screen is just dusty, then a dry microfiber cloth might be enough.
Edit: Btw, those wet screen wipes are good for cleaning all kinds of electronical equipments, like DVD-players & TVs. Removes all the dust very effectively.
