  1. They actually make your computer run slower...

Like in what way? Havent noticed anything different to be honest deffinate not any slower. I would think that regaining some of your ram leak back would improve things. Still on 32%

  2. Those things never work. The idea you can "clean" or "defragment" your RAM is a common Windows myth.

So if my process meter was at 42% and I used this tool and now it's been running at 32% for the past hour then I'm just seeing something that isn't there. Just curious

  3. You could also insert the install CD and either reinstall, or repair installation if it gives the option to repair it.

On the top line under HELP select Detect and Repair have your OFFICE CD ready when it ask for it then you should be able to uninstall it from add and remove with no problems.

  4. The only thing I remember hearing about this program was that it broke WMP and prevented it from checking for song/artist names when they ripped cds and unchecking it didn't fix it.

As long as checking stuff back made it work again then it would be fine I guess. I just wouldn't use the things it does but if you like it then why not.

I dont use Media Player that often but just checked that out seem to be working fine on this end. Thanks for the tip though.

  5. Once again I should have known better to express my opinion. All I said is it,s been working for Me. If You haven,t tryed it & want to search for bad press about it thats fine. & as far as the topic posted I only seen one or two bad opinions about it. & once again it will allow You to fix what You want to. If You dont know what it is dont mess with it. & furthermore it would be easier to take advice from the moderators if they could at least get along with each other . I wont make the mistake of making My opinion known again. But thanks to all that have been very helpfull. Cowboy

Well Cowboy I appreciate your opinion I have found nothing wrong with this program I'm all over computer's on a daily basic and I have seen no ill effects of this program. As far as error reporting goes I turn that crap off anyways to start with and a bunch of other usless windows services. I do everything from type simply notes on note pad to editing audio and digital movie files on this computer. I to was just passng along some info. If you dont want to use it dont. Even the program this forum is based on screws up computer ever now and then. You can find bad press on anything if you look hard enought or have your own agenda.

  6. Res45. Ive been using it for about a month. it works great & I really like the way it shows you the details of the problems before it fixes them . It also works well along side of ccleaner As in each of them don,t allways get rid of everything, But both will together, Anyway i like it & it,s very safe, Just My opinion ,. Thanks glad to hear from another user.

  7. I update my FireFox McAfee SiteAdvisor to the new version 23.0 today and it does not work anymore stays gray all the time so I uninstalled that version and reinstalled Ver. 22 from Cnet.com and its back to working right now not sure what the problem is I sent them an email about the problem. I have seen a number of post on other forums about the same problem with IE and fireFox.

  8. Found this web site where you can sign up for a free file upload and download account. You can upload any size file and it send a email with a download link to the person you want to receive it. Only limits are the file wil only stay on the server for 3 days and can only be downloaded 3 times and you have to share bandwidth with other nonpaying users.

  9. Here is an anti-spoof weapon that can also probably be used :

    http://crypto.stanford.edu/SpoofGuard/

SpoofGuard is a browser plug in that is compatible with Microsoft Internet Explore. SpoofGuard places a traffic light in your browser toolbar that turns from green to yellow to red as you navigate to a spoof site. If you try to enter sensitive information into a form from a spoof site, SpoofGuard will save your data and warn you. SpoofGuard warnings occur when alarm indicators reach a level that depends on parameters that are set by the user.

Have you used this program or found any problems with it's compatability sounds kinda neat but am very cautious about puting things on my system.

  10. I've tried to uninstall NAV with CCL and with Symantec on-line uninstaller (it will not download, even when I install the active-x components and disable my firewall).

Anyone know how to remove it (manually or otherwise)?

    Thank you.

If you have the original install CD just put it back in the computer like your going to reinstall it. It will ask you if you want to MODIFY or REMOVE the product. If that doesnt work go to the SymNRT.exe http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen...005033108162039 page and scroll down to the bottom of the page click on What if this did not work and print the page and download the 3 files. Run the files in the order it says should work then.
