I just installed IE 7.0 and when I try to open my favorites, it tells me 'opening 25 will take a long time' How do I get around this? I'm lost without them.

Your tring to open up every link in your favorites folder at once it seems. Click on the GOLD star on the left side of your tool bar. Then on the links folder if you have your links grouped in folders it will have a drop down list inside each folder of all your links then just click on the link you want to open if you click on the BLUE arrow at the end of each folder you will open up all the links in that folder. Also you can hold your Ctrl key down and click on additional links to open them up in another tab.

Why not download OpenOffice and save your Word docs in Rich Text Format and any other type of files you need in there compatible formats. My daughter used OpenOffice for all her school work has no problems with cross compatibility with the schools MS office programs.

Fast and simple way to config firefox 2.0 settings to the way you want it. If you don't like the way 2.0 is set up, you can revert to using the old version (i.e. new version has an "x" for each closing tab and it can be annoying if you accidentally close the tab by switching to it, whereas old version the "x" is all the way to the right so you can switch tabs w/o worrying it will close it by accident).
I don't know if this has been posted before or where I should post this topic but please take necessary action if you deem fit.

I noticed the FiltersetG site (Pierceive.com) had gone down a couple of days ago. May have to look for an alternative filter source
I found this also I'm using EasyList and EasyElements list with Firefox 2 and it seem to be working fine.
If you're using Adblock Plus, you can update your filters using other filter subscriptions.
Go to the Adblock Plus option menu, select Filter, then Add Filter Subscription, then click the blue link "View all Subscriptions." On the page that comes up, just add a few filters by clicking on their links. I've had good luck running "EasyList", "EasyElement", and "dutchblock" simultaneously.

Its a nice program the 30 day trial give you enought time to play around with it to figure out all the options. I especially like the option of being able to arange whole blocks of files like Windows or My Documents and Program files up to the front of the HD and lesser used folder and archive files down to the slower end of the drive. I hardly ever buy software but this may be one to consider.

Yeah, I have a bunch of accounts.
When gmail first came out I got a bunch of accounts and sent out tons of invites. I don't send them out anymore because everyone I know has at least one.
No wounder nobody wants one LOL you gave everybody one already. Thats cool though. do I get to keep the ones I have left till I use them or is there a time limit on that.

I have about 20 Gmail invites to give away send me a PM along with your email address and I will sent you and invite. If you dont receive and invite within 24 hours you will know im out. I will update the post when there all gone.

Go to Control Panel/Display/Appearance/Makes sure Windows and buttons is set on Zune Style and Color Scheme is set on Default. Then click apply if thats available maybe a reboot wouldnt hurt either.

hmmmm. i have no change out of this theme, and did the fix too. i use alienware style theme regularly if that makes a difference.
Make sure you create the Shell folder inside the Zune folder,then create the NormalColor folder inside the Shell folder. Move the Shellstyle.dll thats inside the Zune folder into the Shell folder open that and move the Shellstyle.dll into the NormalColor folder close and then click on My Documents folder should see a difference over on the Left side panel now. Worked for me.

Just so everyone knows... this theme does not install correctly. If you notice the theme is a mix of the zune and classic theme. The shell style is not installed correctly. To fix this go to c:windows:resources:themes:zune and create a new folder called "Shell" and inside the shell folder create another folder called "NormalColor" move the shellstyle.dll from the zune folder into the normalcolor folder and reapply the theme. Now the tasks list in the shell will be themed correctly, as well as other areas. Now go to somewhere like My Documents and see the difference. I love the orange start button btw.
Thanks man that did make a big diference I was a bit lost on where to put the shell folder to begin with so I looked inside the other theme folders and figured that out.

After I start tiring of WinXP in the next few years (actually I already am to be honest) I'll check out a host of Linux builds to see if any of them suit my fancy, and hopefully one or more of them will.
I have had some interest in Linux but really havent gotten into it mostly because of time and to be honest have no clue where to start or what with as far as equipment, type of software and just a general idea about how to get started. Any good references sites?

Sounds like to me MS is going to end up putting a "Kill switch" on Vista period. No only is it a resource hog even on custom built computers the low end units out in the stores it will just kill there preformance. I can understand wanting to stop there OS from being piriated but to make every program and everything else that MS comes out with have to go through the WGA crap. I see a big increase in people using freeware apps. like media players,OpenOffice which everyone seem to be using around here, and anything else you can replace to do away with MS applications.

I have been using WMP 11 for a few months now works great on my end I like the look and function alot better than Ver.10 if I cant play a file on WMP 11 I use my VLC player. Also whatever Ver. of MP you have installed when you install 11 you can roll it back with no problems to the previous installed Ver.

I'd suggest before someone uses this that they first play with it on a old unimportant non-critical system first (e.g.; not your main PC), or on an old hard drive!
That's a good idea I used it on my 2nd. HD that I backup to on a daily basis not sure if it was something I was doing or not it seemed pretty stright forward, but the programs keeps wanting to run a Disc Check on that drive every time I rebooted so I uninstalled it for now no lose on my part all the info I had on it went back on it last night and is fine. Will look into that a little more on Wed. when I finish my 3 12 hr. shifts.

I have accidently used the CCleaner to del one of my important dll files.....luckily i have saved the reg files?
But how can i recover back the files?
There is no such option in the CCleaner?
Hope this is what your looking for. How do I restore registry backups?
Right-click on the .REG file created and select 'Merge'.
By default these files will be saved into your 'My Documents' folder.

Hmm I had never tried making shortcuts that way. Pretty cool.
Make sure you have a default browser selected.(in your case firefox)
If you do already have FF set as default then set the default back to IE and then to firefox again.
Or you could try making a shortcut the old way.(rightclick new shortcut, enter address, ect).
I made a few shortcuts for my upload sites like Sendtofile.com. You can then add your own special Icons.

Have a friends computer when you bring up some software, any in fact and double click on the web links say like to the software home page it want access the internet. In internet exployer it works fine but not from a link sent in email or instant messenger or on any software on the computer. Running XP Pro fully updated and AVG antivirus. Anyone have any ideas on this one. Thanks

Yeah those online firewall tests are a confusing lot sometimes as Windows Firewall on my system used to always pass with TruStealth on GRC.com but now it doesn't after getting a DSL connection, but installing other firewalls like ZoneAlarm, Sunbelt Kerio, etc., don't fix it so I think there's a need for a hardware firewall.
Well after further research I do have a firewall on my D-Link DI-604 router I will have to do some config. on that. So here is what I have ended up with for now.
