I am not familiar with the program but since it is a security program I would expect they would do this more than other products.

If you just installed or a new version, it may be doing this because it wants something available for the next restart of your PC.

Were you supposed to Reboot and you haven't yet ?

[Defraggler debug mode]

Defraggler is installed in the default location and pasted the statement into the Run window which opened Defragger and a small window reading "No updates available." And no log appears in the Defraggler folder and do not see "Debug" in the Defraggler lower status bar.

The Piriform staff is a lot smaller than most people think.

The Posting is a little behind the Defraggler development.

The "debug" does not actually occur until you run the program just like you normaly would.

The "Debug" word now appears up in the Defraggler banner area.

[Error message]

I keep getting this message when I try to run cleaner, cannot be started either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. Any suggestions. Thanks

No, this is a brand new problem. I have nothing plugged into USB. I can't see how my BIOS would've gotten messed up, but this issue is so strange, I won't count it out. I used my computer like normal, same ways I've done for the 2 years I have this. All I did that could possible have any influence is the program installation and the USB driver install which went smoothly

Give us some model numbers and program names and such as regards this the cam and cd burner and we will see what we can find. Also PC information. davey

Ok did the monitor check, both ends, but nothing. I don't see how my monitor would be the problem though.

 

The strangest thing is that the little sound it makes (possibly the hard drive starting up or something like that) which has always been present and is normal now makes the sound about 7-10 times and the LED HDD indicator blinks each time, which I guess would mean the hard drive keeps restarting. The noises and light indication happen about every 1-2 seconds and then it loads normally (sounding at least, I still have no control as I cannot see). This is why I'm doubting it's a video issue.. that and my monitor is only 2 months old. Any ideas?

I am not talking about video problems as much as USB problems. I would disconnect the camera etc.

Just see if you can reboot with your system as it was before. (In my recent readings I have seen a lot of USB related problems.They were resolved by setting things back as they were.Then at least they could track down things 1 step at a time.)

Also check keyboard and mouse connections. Put everything just as it was. Same ports etc.

 

Does your HDD flash codes when it is having problems?

Could you have messed up your Bios ?

I saw your other post. Are we talking about the same PC.?

[Defraggler v1.05]

Start Defraggler and select Settings > Options > Language . Then change language to what you installed other than English.

I tested Now I have Spanish and English.

P.S. You must select the language that you want other than English when you install Defraggler. It looks like Defraggler will start in English since that is embedded then you must change it to what you want when you first execute it. Feliz Navidad !!!

So, do you think that the reason that my firefox will not load at all is because of cookies. When I say not load, I mean that the firefox window does not even pop up

Have you tried to get advice on this Firefox problem at their forum.?

Because of the various System Restores and Registry issues fixing, I would recommend reinstalling Firefox 3.0.4 . I would also recommend just leaving the Registry alone.

[Defraggler suggestions]

I installed the latest version (v1.05) today (december 6th) and tried the "Move large files to end of disk" feature but when looking at the drivemap, it seemed it didn't work at all ! Are there specific pre-conditions under which this option will work ? I have specified filetypes and ticked a number of boxes but all to no avail !

 

More over in this version one is supposed to be able to choose some other language besides English but that wasn't possible either.

 

Did anyone else have similar experiences ?

I don't have many large files so I changed the MB value to something smaller. Some files were moved to the end(inside) of the drive. I haven't tried changing any default extensions or such yet.

What language did you specify at installation ? Did you ask for other than English ?

[Problems with CCleaner]

Thansk for those but I've already been through them. I don't think the problem is with iTunes but with Windows. It just seems to be refusing to recogonise any more than 350 items in the MyMusic folder. I think the reason iTunes can't save to library is because Windows is hiding the iTunes folder with the library.

I was wondering if CCleaner might have deleted something that has messed up the settings for the music folder.

Did you mess with the Registry? If so , did you restore the entries ?

The worst part is that I have nothing to see on my monitor. I know my video card and monitor are fine, so that's not even an option. I can't even see the boot screen or driver load screen, so I know something is wrong beyond video feed. I waited for the time it would take to get to the Log in screen, then I typed my password and hit enter, and I heard the log on sound, so I know it's working that much.

Did you try unplugging your Monitor and reconnecting at both ends. It may be a USB thing going on. You might also unplug some of your other USB items before Booting as well.

Did you also do any Hardware changes ?

Off course try all your Monitor buttons as well.

What do you mean by it made an error sound? PC Beeps? Or Windows errors sound ?

It made a little error sound, maybe something popped up, but again, my monitor indicates no activity Please help, I really need this fixed for a project I'm working on. Any more questions, just ask.

[Registry Cleaner + ATI Graphics Drivers Bug!]

I get this same bug, but I don't think it has to do with CCleaner for me, because even when I remove the Catalayst Control Center, and use a drive sweeper program to remove all of it, then reinstall it, I still have the same bug.

Did you also put the Exclude entries into CCleaner to keep those registry entries from being deleted ?

See the attached screenshots for the offending ActiveX entries, and the CCC panel that causes a crash when these registry entries are removed by CCleaner. I suspect that this crash may also appear when running games or viewing video content that uses the ATI Avivo engine. I'm saying this because the CCC panel that crashes is the only one that contains a sample video (the one with the red "ATI" flag) that uses the Avivo engine to demonstrate the effects of the different settings. I think this is a serious bug that should be corrected in the upcoming versions of CCleaner. The crash always happens when some/all of the attached registry entries are removed, and affects both v8.10 and v8.11 (latest) of the ATI Catalyst Drivers, probably earlier versions too.

The important thing right now is "not to use that PC" if there is some data that you "really" want to recover.

Each time that you use use it, you may lose any chance of recovery.

We do need to know the following.

1. What OS , edition and version are you using ?

 

2. Did your brother do any "cleaning or erasing" ?

 

3. What is your system like ? All on C drive, multiple Hards Drives, space available to "recuva" your data from where it is to where you can save it?

 

4. What is your experience level? Do you know how to find things and copy them etc. ?

Windows Explorer stores the view formatting and ordering settings for each folder on your system. After some time, this can contain a large amount of redundant data and may even slow down browsing for files on your system. Selecting this option will clear this data and reset the Windows Explorer display settings to their default option.

[crashing]

Today upgraded Defraggler to 1.0.5.111. Analyzed and defragged partitions C and D with no difficulty -- in fact surprising it was so fast! But 5 times it crashed when attempting to analyze or defrag Drive E -- same hard disk, just another partition. Any ideas as to how to correct this?

[MISSED UPDATE]

As the title may indicate, I'm a newbie. I was right in the middle of something quite important when last week my CCleaner indicated it had updated to add.

 

I figured that the option would come back at a better time for me so I clicked it off.

 

It has never come back and when I check on site I could not find an option choice for UPDATES.

Good question !!!

The Automatic check for updates ia an option that you can turn off when you install CCleaner.

You can also turn that option off at CCleaner Options > Settings .

This will save you time when running CCleaner.

You can click on Check for Updates in the lower right-hand corner of the CCleaner window at anytime.

SpywareBlaster is not a scanner. It loads entries into your registry to help prevent Spyware and cookies.

I use it with IE7 and IE7Pro. You may not need it if you are using a special Hosts file.

 

An excellent Malware scanner is MBAM. Use the free version for scanning and malware removal.

The program is free. Get the free version for now.

Just press download and ignore everything but selecting the MBAM download site. Don't mess with any free scans or such offered at the download sites if any. I personally used the Download.com site. http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Once installed select Update tab and update the program.

Then select the Scan tab and do a quick scan. It only takes 7-10 mins to do a Quick scan on a slow PC and 3-4 mins on faster PC.

[Too many files to delete]

It is OK to rename it but the last part of the name should be .reg or you have to right click and select Open with then select Registry edit to open it. Using .reg is easier and the other way makes it harder for someone to accidentally restore it. It is up to you. After the restore you should reboot the PC
