This new build of Defraggler took nearly 2 months to refine. But we're now confident it's a lot faster and more stable. We removed the system driver requirement and thanks to optimizations it's even smaller. We're hoping to be out of beta in a few weeks time, at which stage we'll start adding in loads more features. We did some benchmarking with a compressed EXE and a normal one... and found that the user experience was affected quite badly with a noticeable slow down. So we're planning to stick with uncompressed EXEs for the time being.

The secure delete previously had a problem with sometimes not securely deleting IE temporary files. So it would appear to remove the files quicker, but the secure delete was not, in fact, being performed. The new release properly handles the secure deletion process, which can take longer but is doing the job properly. We're still investigating the problem where it appears never to stop. MrG

Due to a small bug in the IE AutoComplete cleaning code in build 525, some users were experiencing problems running the latest version of CCleaner. So we've fixed the issues and done a quick interim build (527). Thanks to the testers! MrG

This will be fixed in the next release. For some reason one of the new IE7 history cleaning methods also clears this menu. So it's been rewritten to not cause a problem. MrG

Additionally the next release of CCleaner will also be Unicode, which based on our tests has improved the speed by about 20%. Keep an eye out for the download coming next week. MrG

lang-1033.dll is now embedded within the main EXE. The problem could be due to an old version of the EXE not being overwritten. I'd suggest rebooting and then installing the latest version from: http://download.piriform.com/ccsetup201.exe MrG
