CeeCee, Yo :)

You can verify the version you have installed by visiting the About Flash page:

http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about

You need to un-install the old version before you can install the new version:

How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control

Close all browsers when using this un-install tool :)

The Internet Explorer version is available here - make sure you untick the damned Yahoo Toolbar since there's no reason to install crapware with Flash. You however you must use Internet Explorer to install the IE Flash version.

Thanks for that about page YoKenny, that will save allot of time and negate looking up the file versions on the hdd.

hazelnut, check these out:

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/in...rsion=Netscape6

do I have to uninstall and install in both browsers?!!
There is an un-installer for each.

 Twice as much work

I will NEVER use Firefox as it looks like it was designed by a colour blind teenager

See the post at #11 for a bit of history why I won't use Firefox:

Is this necessary? I didn't do that now,but i did clean install with previous version...
You only need to run the un-installer to be able to update.

Okay, I ran the uninstaller which said it removed the player from ALL browsers.

Then used Andavari's IE link and installed it on IE, works okay.

Opened opera checked on Yokenny's tool link again, it said I didn't have it there now, so when it said did I want to install it, it took me to this page

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/do...=ShockwaveFlash

where as you can see it says for IE, firefox and opera.

Do I download this as well in the same way as the other in order for it to work in opera? Or does this version do all browsers ?

I'm confused!!

What do you exactly mean? I was able to update fine without running un-installer.

Yes,download it also via Opera and it then installs needed plugins to Opera/program/plugins folder,so that flash works with Opera also.

The only uninstaller I ran was the Adobe Flash Player 9 ActiveX one for Internet Explorer via the Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs (faster via CCleaner->Tools->Uninstall). As for the Firefox version I just did what I always do and that was to install over the existing version.

I'm only indicating what I did because it was recommended to un-install in case of problems
Previous versions of Macromedia Flash Player should be removed

Uninstall any previous version of Flash Player before using the standalone installer. For instructions on removing the player, please see How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control (TN 14157).

You obviously miss the whole point of Firefox. If you don't like the colours then change them. Make it how you want it . Firefox can be be made to look however you want it to look, very easily. You can't do this with IE or Opera.

It's infinitely configurable. (and try saying that after a few drinks ) :D

My opera looks like internet explorer 6. :P

Hey, Rridgely, that sounds like the worst of both worlds. :P

Actually I like the way IE6 looks. Its to me what a browser is supposed to be layed out like.(as far as interface) Feature wise not so much. :P

IE7's interface on the other hand.

Opera is ok but doesn't stand up to firefox for me.

OK end of off topic rant. :D

Agreed! IE6 was easy to use, albeit a complete security risk too.

Whoever made the GUI for IE7 needs to stop smoking something, or MS needs to stop hiring kids from the nursery. :P:lol:
