DennyF
I have been using this program for several years. All of a sudden, I cannot do a custom clean. The program will only allow a Health Check. How do I resolve this issue? Did something change in the last update?
Moderators nukecad Posted November 8, 2023 Moderators Share Posted November 8, 2023 No Custom Clean is still working as it always has. Can you give more details of why you say that it is not working for you (but Health Check is). Is Custom Clean not starting at all? Or is it starting and then getting stuck? Or is it completing but not cleaning what you think it should be? If it's getting stuck that what does it say at the top of the results window when stuck? eg: *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Worried about why some files come back after cleaning? DennyF
When I click "Custom Clean" the program does not respond at all. It responds normally to Health Check, and Registry Clean. How do I resolve this. Would a reinstall help?
Moderators nukecad Posted November 8, 2023 Moderators Share Posted November 8, 2023 Not sure what is happening there but a reinstall may clear things up. You can download an installer here and just double click it to reinstall: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Moderators Andavari Posted November 8, 2023 Moderators Share Posted November 8, 2023 May also try right-clicking the CCleaner shortcut, and choose: Run as administrator
Moderators Andavari Posted November 9, 2023 Moderators Share Posted November 9, 2023 Make Sure It's Enabled: 1. Open CCleaner. 2. Scroll all the way to the bottom. 3. Make sure 'Custom Files and Folders' is enabled/ticked, if it isn't custom cleaning won't work at all:
Moderators nukecad Posted November 9, 2023 Moderators Share Posted November 9, 2023 Ticking 'Custom Files and Folders' is only so that your 'Includes' get cleaned, all the other ticked categories in Custom Clean should work anyway. TBH what is being reported here is very odd, and something that I've never seen reported before. Quote When I click "Custom Clean" the program does not respond at all. It responds normally to Health Check, and Registry Clean. You'd expect CCleaner as a whole to either to work or not work, having Health Check (and Reg Cleaner) work but not Custom Clean is baffling. (I can only think it may be a faulty install/update?) @DennyF You are clicking on 'Run Cleaner' after clicking on Custom Clean? Can you post a screenshot of what you see after you have clicked on 'Custom Clean'? *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'?
