Semper_Fidelis
Trash is empty as shown by Win 10 Pro but CCleaner keeps "discovering" and emptying 4 large items in Trash over and over. This Bug has not appeared before CCleaner Free version 6.01.9825 (64 bit). My OS is fully patched and up-to-date with Hotfixes. Happy to provide more details if needed. Thanks in advance for kind help. 10.7.2022.pdf 10.7.2022 (2).pdf 10.7.2022 (3).pdf 10.7.2022 (4).pdf
Moderators hazelnut Posted July 11, 2022 Moderators Share Posted July 11, 2022 Sounds like a corrupt recycle bin. Semper_Fidelis
hazelnut, Unluckily the procedure (in 331053) did not help. Received "The Directory is not Empty" after submitting the command. When I look via Windows Explorer in the $Recycle.Bin file, it is empty. Have also tried to empty the Recycle.bin by using Unlocker > Delete. The command ends seemingly OK, but CCleaner always re-finds the files in the Recycle.bin. Each time CCleaner also reports it has removed the files, but when Running CCleaner again, the files have reappeared. Any other hints on how to proceed? Thanks in advance for any further help. Moderators nukecad Posted July 11, 2022 Moderators Share Posted July 11, 2022 What you describe does sound like a corrupted bin as Hazelnut says. Just a thought: As this is CCleaner Pro then do you have it set to clean other user accounts? (If there is more than one). Each user account will have it's own bin. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Worried about why some files come back after cleaning? Semper_Fidelis
Nukecad and Hazelnut, Thanks for your posts. The corrupted Recycle Bin file was located on an external HDD station, where I keep image files of my Backups. The issue started after I deleted two image file backups. The deleted large files got stuck in the Recycle Bin and apparently corrupted it. I finally managed to delete the large image backup files from the Recycle Bin one by one. For that I used the method that Hazelnut referred to, but since it was not successful, I used a little utility called Unlocker, by which managed to delete the two annoying files from the Recycle Bin after several deletion attempts. Now everything is fine again. Once again, thank you for your posts, they helped me going to the right direction.
