ccleaner crashing

Recommended Posts

When using ccleaner it scans fine and reports on how many junk and temp files need to be removed . When instructed to clean file it is slow , the green progress bar reaches a little past halfway then ccleaner crashes. A further scan shows no files have been removed . This will carry on infinitum ! This only seems to have happened since updating to v5.83 9050(64bit) .I have tried a fresh install !

Please run ccleaner in debug mode as described  (showing the crash)

And attach the log to this thread

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.

Occasionally there is a problem with a file CCleaner is trying to analyze/clean and it just baulks at the problem file, either freezing or more often crashing out.

You can usually clear the blockage by running Windows built in Disk Clean-up.
Use the 'Clean up System Files' option.

It will take a while to clean, up to an hour in some cases (especially if you clear old Windows updates),  but will usually clear whatever is causing the block and then CCleaner can run properly again (and run much quicker than DisK Clean-up does).

The more the CCleaner gets new update version the more the CCleaner has more bugs and that's my opinion. I'm switched from CCleaner to [competition software name removed]
