CCleaner stops (won't fire up after a few days)

I have had CCleaner for a few years - until recently it worked whenever I started it from Windows desktop or the run command.  It now doesn't.  So I uninstalled it and redownloaded and reinstalled.  Works for a while (maybe 5 times) then stops working again. I have to uninstall and do it all again. Very annoying. Any ideas please?

Which anti virus are you using?

One (or two) AV's have a problem with the latest CCleaner version,  the affected AV company(s) are trying to work out just why.
(Although the AV's having the problem usually only let CCleaner run the once when you install it maybe that could depend on when your AV is scanning?).

Try making CCleaner an exclusion in whichever AV you use.

I'm using Trend Micro Maximum Security V 16.0

There is a flaw in trend micro, the tm developers are looking into the cause of this.  Whitelist ccleaner in trend micro following the directions in this post

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.
