krit86lr
Hi Sorry if I spelled your name wrong. Will you tell me how you edited the system file which has all of the system's icons? Thanks, K Windows Pro Media 8.1 x64 | 8GB Ram | 500G HDD 7200 RPM | All that I know about my graphics is that it's Intel
mr.brownstone
Hi there First, get either Microangelo- http://www.microangelo.us/ or Reshacker- http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/ Reshacker is free, but a little harder to change all icons. With Microangelo Liberian you have a much easier time. Now copy the file you want to modify..let's use shell32.dll (located in "Windows\System32. Copy the file to another location and open that one up with either Microangelo Liberian or Reshacker. Find the icons you want to change and replace them with the ones you want. When you are done get an app called Replacer- http://www3.telus.net/_/replacer/ and replace the file\s. Now remember, this is replacing system files, so it goes without saying that you should be really careful. I have done this a million times now, but it was a lot of trials and errors when I first started out with this. Nowdays there are installers that do this for you...like this one- http://www.joejoe.biz/joejoe/load/index.php?dlid=204 But I like to have control and do it manually. But that particular installer is pretty damn good and will transform your XP icons into great looking Vista icons:) Hope this helps you on your way My Facebook page
TheFiresInTheSky
sounds pretty fun. how would i go about editing the start icon in XP?
JohnDemolition
that's a little more difficult to do since the start icon isn't in shell32.dll IIRC, you need to make your own skin which adds an icon in there.

IIRC = If I Recall Correctly i've already answered your second question. you need to make your own skin which changes the icon. a lot of skins such as LunaElement have custom start buttons. krit86lr
i dont know anything about skins or anything like that. whats lunaelement? think im better off just not attempting this? I think that you should. It's a lot of fun. But, if you are just wanting to change your start button there are easier ways. I suggest new skins and such. But I want to try Mr. Brownstone's method now that I have learned the skin/theme method. Thank you Mr.Brownstone! I'll be trying it soon. Mike Rochip
i was just wondering how do u change the style of the start menu so it is small like that If it works the same as crystal db you can go to Control Panel, double-click Display, choose the Appearance tab, and then the Color Scheme scroll box: Kind of weird there's nothing about colors in the color scheme box ! I guess it's because it's a modified theme.

Mike Rochip
yeah i knew that. mr brownstone just has a really small menu wondered how he got it like that OK, now I think I know what you mean, sorry to keep misunderstanding. If you right click on the Start Menu icon, then Properties, then the Start Menu tab, then Customize, then the General tab, you can choose Small Icons. If you right click on the Start Menu icon, then click Properties, then the Start Menu tab, then Customize, then the Advanced tab, you can choose which items are displayed and how they're displayed. Hope I got it right this time, if not maybe mr. brownstone will come to the rescue!

mr.brownstone
You have to edit the .msstyle with resedit- http://www.tgtsoft.com/prod_rb.php It's under the startpanel size. Just play with some values. It differs from msstyle to msstyle. Or simply remove the user pics My Facebook page
