duhe
I am not a techie. I've been using CCleaner for many years. Recently, running CCleaner has been taking some time. I want to know why. Most of the "time" CCleaner is running it seems to be searching for/deleting my browser cache (primarily Chrome and, secondarily, Firefox). As a non-techie, I'm just wondering why this recent change. Is CCleaner searching and cleaning deeper into browser caches? Or is Chrome (and other browsers) burying their files/caches more deeply?
Winapp2.ini
Try manually clearing your cache from the browsers once using CTRL+SHIFT+DEL to bring up the prompt from within the browsers themselves winapp2.ini additions thread winapp2.ini github
duhe
Thanks for the reply Winapp2.ini. Indeed cleaning my cache before running CCleaner *did* speed things up. Still, my question remains: why did previous versions of CCleaner run faster than more recent ones (without first clearing my browser caches)? sdmiller
I agree. With the last few revisions, CCleaner has become painfully slow cleaning the browser cache. Sometimes it takes 30 minutes on my i7 machine with an SSD. What's it doing all this time? I even cleaned the browser history and re-ran CCleaner and it still takes forever. Do I have something set wrong?

Do I have something set wrong? Without knowing your settings and what items you have checked in ccleaner there is (honestly) no way of answering your question. ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.
