STH
I have an old Windows XP laptop and am trying to download the latest version of CCleaner on it. It downloads fine, but won't run. I get this message. CCleaner has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. It's the free version I am trying to get - it downloads ccsetup418.exe Is this no longer compatible with XP? If not, how can I get a previous version which was? login123
Hi, STH. I have win xp sp3 running on a desktop, using Avast AV and Spywareblaster. Just now uninstalled my old version of CCleaner free and installed the latest, from here: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download It installed & runs fine, only new thing is that the Monitoring function starts automatically. If you can get it to install, you can shut monitoring off using the instructions here: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=41860 Fwiw, I didn't try the slim version, but the portable version from Hazelnut's link seems to have the monitoring function turned off by default. It also runs fine here. Could it be that some antivirus or antimalware app is blocking your installation?. <--- wild guess. The CCleaner SLIM version is always released a bit after any new version; when it is it will be HERE :-) Pssssst: ... It isn't really a cloud. Its a bunch of big, giant servers. Moderators Andavari Posted October 15, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 15, 2014 CCleaner has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Does that happen during the installation, or after it's installed and you run CCleaner? If it won't install here's some things to try: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=5739
