realbigal
Good Morning Each time I am finished browings with I.E. I run 1) clean disk security. 2) Recuva and secure overwrite checked. 3) Then I run ccleaner. I do all my browsing in private browsing. After all that I run disk investigator, and there are still traces of my browsing. Is there any way to really clean the hard drive? Thank you Before I asked the question I looked into previous topics and found nothing. I posted a similar question a few years ago, and still I look for answere. realbigal
Moderators mta Posted October 9, 2012 Moderators Share Posted October 9, 2012 have you tried doing the same test using FireFox as your browser? i use FF in private browsing mode and have been happy with the results? Moderators Nergal Posted October 9, 2012 Moderators Share Posted October 9, 2012 You need to give more information, what files are still found? Where do they reside? Can you open a folder and see these files? ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. realbigal
Thank you for your response, I am now trying firefox. Let us say i browse in Flicka and then run all the cleaning apps, and then run disk investigator, and within it do a search on (flickr) I get a lot of hits that dont appear to be residing in any files just a title. Alan_B
Perhaps you need to Free Space + Alternate Data Streams + Wipe Cluster Tips.
Moderators Nergal Posted October 9, 2012 Moderators Share Posted October 9, 2012 I don't know what disc investigator is, nor do I care, but we don't usually allow product comparison threads; this one borders on that. you did not answer any of my questions You need to give more information, what files are still found? Where do they reside? Can you open a folder and see these files? with this information we can see if you are missing a check mark or not. I also don't understand, due to this unknown program, if you are talking about actual files (i.e. "ccleaner misses files" or trying to say "ccleaner deletes the files but I can use a recovery program and see the files that were deleted". Edit: what is "Flicka" are you expecting ccleaner to clean this? Is it listed in the available applications? Moderators Nergal Posted October 9, 2012 Moderators Share Posted October 9, 2012 ah autocorrect, I thought maybe it was a specialized flckr browser but then again I only found that is android apps (which does mean it could still be a chromeapp) http://www.flickr.com/services/apps/72157623025084241/ ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. realbigal
Thank you again for your support. Any question that I did not answer is because not being a computer expert , I did not understand. The program I refer to is " http://www.theabsolute.net/sware/dskinv.html " I have been using FF to browse with and it appears to be working in Private Mode a lot better than I.E. realbigal
