How well does 64 Bit CCleaner do?

Windows 7 64 Bit includes the 32 & 64 bit versions of some programs, including Internet Explorer 9.

__________

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't:

64 Bit CCleaner -> Clean 64 bit apps + run with 64 bit code

32 Bit CCleaner -> Clean 32 bit apps + run with 32 bit code

__________

Do I run 32 bit CCleaner to clean 32 bit Internet Explorer 9, & 64 bit CCleaner to clean 64 bit Internet Explorer 9?

Or does 64 bit CCleaner take care of both 32 & 64 bit applications?

You only need to run the 64-bit version to handle both 32-bit and 64-bit apps.

64 bit Windows conceals the genuine System32 (with 64 bit executables) from 32 bit applications,

and falsely presents SysWow64 (with 32 bit executables) to 32 bit applications.

64 bit Windows allows 64 bit applications to see both System32 and SysWow64.

You can try QDIR portable.

You can simultaneously run both the 32 bit and the 64 bit versions and see the differences.

The 32 bit QDIR is shown a much smaller "System32" than the 64 bit version can see.

Thank you, Alan. I have known about Q-Dir, but had not had time to test it on a 64 bit system.

Interesting, what you say there. About the 32 Bit showing a smaller System32 than the 64...

Surprisingly enough, I oft find that after running a 32 Bit CCleaner on a 64 Bit system, there are 0 b/kb trash to remove by running the 64 Bit version.

Of course I assume that if users were to use 64 Bit IE, or 64 it Firefox, it would find the extra data!
