You don't have to be near their nest, just within 100 meters of their feeding range. Beautifully feathered birds. But they're a-holes and have a screech that matches their personality. Mockingbirds tend to attack cats because, well, they're jerks! I used to have a mocking bird that would knock my outdoor cat off the fence every time he climbed on it.
